Hi Bill,
As I see no one has posted to your site. I might be able to give u a hand. There is two cemeteries in Saegertown if I remember correctly. Check this website for help (findagrave.com). I have found some info that has been helpful. They also have people that will take the time to find the grave for you sometimes. I have looked on the site many times to find that someone has already posted a picture of the tombstone I was looking for. Good Luck

Vickie, When I told my cousin I was looking for the book she told me to stop. I wondered why but then she gave me one at our family reunion. When ask what she wanted she said, " Nothing! She didn't know why but bought two copies I could have this one to help in my search. " I was very grateful as the only one I could find was at the local library about 20 miles from my house and i need to view it there.

FYI for anyone looking for the book. So if anyone needs this book it is rare take vickie up on her offer. Thanks vickie for helping with this search and all the hard work!

Saeger / Sager & Egypt Cemetery

There was someone on here a while ago asking about the name Saeger. Is Sager the same surname. Well this past week I spent four days at the Egypt Cemetery and found out the real answer. YEP they are one in the same. Granted by a misspelling on the family or carvers side who knows but they connect. I'm hopefully heading there again this week to talk to someone in the office about some missing stones and family I'm looking for. Just for anyone looking for someone in this cemetery, Some of the stones are horrible and unreadable, chipping and losing there face. Also the cemetery has two parts one by the church and one that is off a alley. So hopefully I can get some really great pictures and help pull all these families together. Also I am working on putting the Saeger Family Book by Elizabeth Saeger Daniel on the internet via my family trees. This info has been a great help in finding lost info.

Philadelphia Sa(e)gers

Does anyone know anything about a Sager family that lived in Philadelphia during the first few decades of the 1900s? The parents are Harry L Sager and his wife Matilda "Tillie" McClellan. Their children (that I could find any information on) are Charles L, William F, Frances M, James, and Harry G. Charles (1904-1984), known as Chick, married a woman named Lorraine and had a daughter. William (1906-1971), known as Snip, married a woman named Alice M Treffeisen; no kids, as far as I know. Frances (1910?-1931?), I'm told, died at the age of 21 from pneumonia, and James (1913?-1933?) passed at 20 in an automobile accident. If either had a spouse or children, it's news to me. Harry (1913-1992) married Catherine Fitzpatrick (1915-1994), and they had two children: John Francis (1945-2007) and Kathleen Ann (1947-1955). (John would be my dad, hence my interest.) I've been able to push back most of my family tree a few generations at least...but Harry & Matilda remain stubborn enigmas whose names even I'm only semi-certain of. I'm told the Sagers originally came from Germany (where they were the Saegers), then moved to Ireland before coming to the USA. I'm also told that my grandfather Harry Gordon Sager was a sandlot legend in Philadelphia...and that James Sager may have been a burglar. Can anyone help me here?

Steve,
If you could give me more information on your Saeger line - where they lived, death dates and places, grandfather's name, etc. - I may have your lineage.
I believe that William's father was Aaron BENJAMIN Saeger and that he was married twice. First to Sophia Byham and second to Esther S. Kimmey. I'm still working on your Aaron's father, which I suspect is John (b.1807), the son of Peter Nicholas (b.1777).
You may e-mail me at mosier4640@msn.com
David

Hello all....I am looking for information on my family (which has proven to be difficult). I have traced to William Saeger b: Dec 29, 1872 married Mary Terrell in 1894. Williams parents are listed as Aaron and Esther(Ester or Hester?) married in 1873. Aaron I believe would have been 74 in 1910 and Esther would have been 67 in 1910. William and Mary are my great grandparents. If anyone has any information or would like to share information please drop me a line or respond to this post. Thank you....Steve

Hello:

My name is Barry Miksch from the Pennsylvania town of Nazareth (a Moravian Settlement dating to 1739). The couple mentioned Saeger/Axer is in my direct ancestry 10 generations ago. Johann and Anna married in 1722 and had a son also named Johann about 1737, who married Maria Barbara Ritter about 1760.Johann,jr. and Maria had a daughter Suzanna Saeger on 11/13/1763, who married Jacob Ehrenhard around 1782; the couple had a daughter Barbara Ehrenhard 12/16/1785. Barbara Ehrenhard married John Frederick Danke,jr.(J. Danke,sr. served in the Revolutionary War) on 1/10/1808 and had 19 years of marriage as Mrs. Danke, until John,jr. died in 1827.They had a daughter, Elfrida Danke on 2/21/1815 who later married my great-great-great-grandfather Francis S. Miksch in Nazareth, Pa.on 3/30/1837, and who shared over 60 years as Mrs.F.S.Miksch until her husband died 10/29/1897.
