I've just found details of JRCS's first marriage to Susanah Newland at South Warnborough, Hampshire on 22 Sept 1795 (http://www.scribd.com/doc/67092966/South-Warnborough-Marriag...). Presumably she must have died sometime between 1814 and 1818 to make JRCS's second marriage valid.
