Looking for ancestors of Frederick Henry Saake, born 1888 and his sister Augusta "Sue" Saake. Any information would be appreciated!

Not sure if we're related, bue the first names are similar. I have a Fred Saack in my ancestery and he married an Amelia, but named a daughter Augusta.

I assume your ancesters were from Germany - Pommern?

Would be interested in dates - mine are in the 1850-1890 range...

Frederick Henry (born 1888) and Augusta(born 1886) were both born in the US. Since posting the origianal message, I have discovered their father's name was Henry and mother was Ursula Maurer. She was born in 1848 and had been married and had 4 other children before marrying Henry. I don't know for sure what country either came from, but assumed Germany

I have recently found a Henry A. Saake and a William Saake on a list of children sent on an orphan train to Iowa. They were "adopted" by Rev. Henry Bode (my relative) and Tonjes Meyers both of Grundy County Iowa. There is no assoicated date or date by implication. Any chance these are related to you? They can be found, using Google, using "orphan trains to Iowa". The information is an index of known orphans to Iowa. It's not that common of a name and I thought it might be someone your knew. By the way this "adoption" probably occured sometime between 1880 and 1920 or so.

Interesting information....but not sure there is a connection. My greatgrandfather, Henry Saake left my grandfather's family when my grandfather (born 1888) was very young....Henry could have had a second family either before or after that....and abandon them as well....Do you have any idea how old Henry A and William were when they were adopted by your ancestors? Thanks for the info...I hope someday the puzzle will be solved!

Sorry, I have no other information than what I just gave you. However, I did just discover this link and haven't even checked it against other information (i.e. census) that I have. I suspect that this is Henry C. Bode and not Henry J. Bode (the latter is my direct line relative) because Henry C. was from Grundy Center, a location that Henry J. never lived in. If that is the case then the dates are in the 1900 to 1920 range and not earlier. I will however, follow up tonight and see what I can find.

Have a good day. I will get back tonight or tomorrow with what I find, or don't find.
