His parents were Andrew Rzasa and Mary Ann Rusnica. Not sure about brothers and sisters. Stanley A. married Josephine T. Szalony and they had Stanley J. Rzasa and Robert Micheal Rzasa (these are the only children that I know of). Can you add any information?

Hello...I have just found this message board after a very long time and long searching. I am the granddaughter of Marcin Rzasa, born around 1875. He came to this country in 1905. The family lived in Massachusetts and Rhode Island with the name of Zosa...and there were many unknowns until I began to dig a few years ago. I have finally located the correct name and the ship's roster giving me further info to go on. Next month, Sept.2001, I will travel to Poland with my husband and daughter to find my grandfather's home village. Not sure as there are several mentioned. I have 2 pen pals in Warsaw and Krakow who will travel with us and translate (thank God). We are so excited to be going. My husband and I visited Warsaw years ago and I adored it. This time I will feel as if I am going home. We will explore the villages of Kolbusowa, Chestochowa (home of the black Madonna) and Pajeczno...SW of Chestochowa. This area appears to be where all of the Rzasa families of Poland are from. Everyone who has answered my messages speak of their heritage being in that region...the old Galicia (when occupied by the Austrians). My grandfather supposedly left 7 brothers when he came here. It would be my sheer delight to find the church records which would tell me about those brothers so I could track the rest of the family. Wish me luck. Janet

I'm doubling back through old messages on this site to contact all the Rzasa family members I can find. I recently returned from a trip to Poland where I searched several towns for family. I have more info., photos, and am anxious to "connect the dots". Let me know if you still have the same EMail address.

Found your message and thought I'd log in as a clan member. My mother is Florence Rzasa, whose parents were Lawrence (Wawezyniec) Rzasa and Carolina/Caroline Slezak. They were married at St. Casimir's in Johnstown, Pa. in Nov 1903. According to church records, Lawrence's parents were Ludonica (Louis) and Sophiae Rzasa. Carolina's parents were Stephen and Victoria Slezak. My mother had three siblings - Joseph, Helen, and Katherine. The family moved to Hudson, Fla about 1914, where they had a farm. In the 1920 census, they are listed as "Rice" and apparantly my grandfather was known as Lawrence Rice in Florida. There are some other "Rices" in proximity on the 1920 Fla census - presumably close relatives.

Best I can tell is that my grandfather came to the US through port of Baltimore aboard SS Chemnitz in May 1902. Destination was Johnstown, Pa. and origin listed as "Wysoka, Galicy" - presumably somewhere in Galicia. Unclear if he had any siblings - may have been at least one who moved to the Chicago area, but this is not clear.
