John Ryant served in the French and Indian war in 1758 under Major (or Capt) Joseph Spencer of the 3rd co. of the 2nd reg. of CT, commanded by Colonel Nathan Whiting. In 1761, he was in the same regiment, but in 8th co. under Capt Asel Fitch. Does anyone know anything about JOHN RYANT--where he was born, where he went after the war, etc. ANY suggestions welcome!! John Ryant/Riant was married to Ann Fox, b 1737 at East Haddam, CT, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Fox of East Haddam. HIs home was almost on the Lyme Town line. HIs brother-in-law Joseph Fox was in the same unit and died in the F & I War. I don't have any info on his children or parentage, but can point out exactly where he lived in 1759. He appeared to move north with other Fox family relatives after 1759.
