Hi. I was just wondering if anyone was related to Cornelius Ryan. He was the police chief in Hartford, CT in the 1800's. I forget the specifics right now, but I have them somewhere. His wife was Gertrude Curtis Ryan, I believe. He came from Ireland I think about 1829. One of his sons, Edmund Ryan, was a professor of English at St. Mary's in Maryland. His son, Francis X. Ryan was my grandfather, and his son, Frank G. Ryan is my father. I now have a son, Conor Raftery (in honor of "fighting Con Ryan" the police chief). We have lots of clippings and records, if anyone needs to know anything.

I am not sure of any siblings. Our history starts with him only. If I find anything, I will let you know, though! (Catherine Ryan is my sister's name, not that it matters....very pretty, I think!)

Do you have any informatino on a Cornelius RYAN marrying a Sarah SWPRDS in AUstralia. Cornelius would have been born around 1880 in Ireland.

Jennifer:
I just saw your note today as I was looking up Gertrude Curtis Ryan (Connolly).
My Mother was your grandfather's younger sister.
Brian Connolly was visiting us today; he is a grandson of Terry Connolly, the son of Gertrude Curtis Ryan Connolly, your grandfather's older sister.
Brian has a great deal of information from Terry and we would be happy to share what we have

I realize that your message is very old, but somehow I've missed it all these years. Cornelius immigrated from Ireland in 1849, having been born there in 1828. In 1856 he married Winifred O'Hara at St. Patrick's church in Hartford. He died iin Hartford on 27 Dec. 1912. Gertrude Curtis Ryan (1901-1950) was a granddaughter of Cornelius and Winifred. She was the daughter of Edmund Ryan and Gertrude Rachel Curtis. She married James P. Connolly. These are all collateral relatives of my line, Winifred being the sister of my 3x greatgrandmother, Mary O'Hara Freeman. I am very anxious to trace the O'Hara lineage in Ireland.
