I have just begun to research my family history and it hasn't been easy. My Ryals are also from Harnett County, so I hope that this is a connection. My grandfather was William Henry Ryals and he had married twice. Once to a Lettie and once to a Hettie. I have been unable to find any information on any of them, and have hit a brick wall. I am hoping that the information that you have will help me. Finding African American Ryals's has been a problem. Every one that I have found are caucasion. I am very excited to hear that you have information and I will be contacting you soon. Thanks so much for your help.

In case this might help, here it is:From the will of Richard Ryalls of Cumberland Co.,NC(later the northern part of this co. became Harnett Co.)left negro girl Esther and then she and her increase equally divided between his son Richardson and his sisters Mary,Elizabeth,Nancy,Winifred and Ridley.Left to son Lovet "a negro boy named Harry." Gave to his son Young "a negro boy named Jack".This will was written, signed, sealed.and delivered by Test. Wm Avera and Test. Levi Ennis. 29th day of March 1810. Richard Ryalls died 1816. I have a couple more friends who are researching African-American Ryalses. If I find more in my search I will send it in.

Jackie Ryals Prescott and others, I am looking for any wills of Ryals slave owners in North Carolina and Georgia. Also, I am looking for any Ryals named Dicey. I am interested in the family connection of Ryals to Sanfords, Rivers, Davis, and Marshalls. If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
