RYALLs of Ireland in 1800s

My RYALL family ended up in New York City in late 1800s. I'm looking for any clues in Ireland or in New York.

Great-grandfather: Thomas born 1856, listed parents from Ireland (country only in US Census, no county). His 1st wife Annie, born 1842, also listed parents from Ireland. They had 14 children before she passed away, one of them was my grandfather John.

Thomas Ryall was listed in NY as a widower at one point, then married another woman named Annie, this one born about 1857.

To further the confusion, one daughter of the first marriage is also named Annie and married a man named Connolly. My grandfather John and his sister Mary lived with this couple around 1920, just before my grandfather married.

My grandfather John (born around 1900) worked as a driver and also as a musician in New York. He toured and played on WOR radio in NY. His group was the Avalon Trio. He passed away about 1940.

If any of this rings a bell with your family history search, I'd like to hear from you. Any help appreciated with regard to searches in Ireland or New York. Off list OK as well at ancestry1971 at gmail dot com. Thanks ever so much.

I, too, have Ryalls that came to NY from Ireland, county Tipperary. James and Margaret Ryall came to the US in 1853 and 1851, respectively (Margaret came first, leaving her family behind. The rest followed). They had seven children- John, James, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Thomas, Edward, and Margaret. Elizabeth and Mary Ann stayed in Ireland for some reason and passed away as children.

I don't think we have the same Thomas. Most the family stayed in the Albany and Lloyd areas. Also, as far as I can tell, Thomas passed away before 1895. He was born in 1850.

If there is any connection, it might come from James, Sr. He had three brothers. George ended up in Australia. According to an article I came across, his two other brothers, Michael and John, came to the US. I'm not sure where they ended up. George, the one in Australia, had a son named Thomas. Maybe one of the other brothers that came to the US also had a son Thomas. Thomas and John are common names. If any of this sounds familiar, please let me know.

Back to the original James and Margaret: their two sons, James and John, fought in the Civil War. Both were wounded. John fought at Gettysburg, and James (my 3rd great grandfather) was mustered out a captain.

Good luck. Maybe our Ryalls intertwine somehow-
