An old family story is that my GGGGM was the grand daughter of this fellow who had a castle in Dublin, destroyed during some Catholic uprising! Fabulous story but absolutely NO PROOF! Were there any Rutherfords in Dublin? Benzy was a midwife in Civil War - found with many different given names in census records. She married a Samuel Cooper in Ireland - had 6 daughters born there 1819-1831 then immigrated to US in 1831. May have been in MD for a few years before going to OH - Monroe & Noble Counties. I did find a few Rutherford fellows living nearby in Center Twp. - were they brothers and reason this couple went to OH.?
Benzy b. ca 1795 in Ire, d. after 1880 in OH. Sam b. ca 1786 in Ire. d. before 1870 in OH. Cannot find any death records or cemetery records for either. Have lots of data on the 8 Cooper kids. Any Rutherford "cousins" in OHIO?? Please respond to my JUNO mail -- thanks "Mickey" in MI
