Orbie "Buzz" Ruis, 75, died Wednesday morning, February 1, 2006, at Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Lowndes County native had lived in Reidsville for the past 20 years. He was retired from Georgia State Prison as a Correctional Officer. He was an Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Cat Creek Baptist Church in Valdosta. He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Crout.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Ruis of Reidsville; two daughters, Virginia Anne Chapman of Jacksonville and Valerie Buckner of South Carolinia; two sons, Ricky Ruis of Valdosta and Glen Ruis of Adel; a niece, Ann (John) Shytle of Valdosta; two nephews, Leroy Fender of Jacksonville and Terrell Ruis of Moultrie; a special godchild, Dallas Smith of Reidsville; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 4, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home.
