Hi, Kathryn: We've come across your name before while searching for Rucastle.

My husband's was named after his grandfather, Hilton. I suppose they changed the spelling to Hylton to try to avoid the inevitable confusion; however, there is also a geographical 'Hylton" just south of Newcastle, so there may be some connection there.

Unfortunately we have no information on my husband's grandfather other than that contained on his son's indenture papers.

These were signed on November 2, 1933, and list my father-in-law's father as Hilton Rucastle (miner) or 4 Dundham Street Sth (?), Newcastle on Tyne.

It seems likely that there is a connection here.

Sorry it took me so long to reply to your posting of November. I haven't checked it until today.

Susan (Vary) Rucastle
