Jakobine Rosch lived in Seebach, Achern, Baden, Germany 1840

My great great Grandmother was Jakobine Rosch. I know nothing about her specifically but her husband was Gabriel Schappacher. They lived in Ottenhofen and Seebach in Baden in the mid 1800. They had 14 children, 6 of whom lived. One daughter, Caroline, born 22 Jan 1840, immigrated to New York in 1865.
Caroline married a Peter Schmidt and had at least one child, my grandmother, Margaret Schmidt.

Can anyone fill in any details for Jakobina Rosch for me?

Although it's seven years after you posted this, I just came across it. I believe your half brother and I might be related. I was Googling my grandfather, Samuel J. Rosch, and saw an Ancestry post by one of my cousins and also yours. My maternal grandfather had a brother named Mordecai who lived in Miami and a sister named Charlotte. One of his sisters lived in Texas, I think. Our family lived in Yonkers, NY, and my grandparents lived there and in their later years in West Palm Beach. I remember when I was very young, I went with my grandparents to visit his brother in Miami. It was very foreign to me because we were very Reformed and they were very Orthodox. We were closer to my maternal grandmother's family because they were also in the NYC area. By the way, I have an uncle named Paul Rosch who was my mother's brother.

I know this is a response to some old posts, but maybe someone is still "plugged-in". I'm a cousin of Roberta (mentioned in original message)and our grandparents were John and Mary (Herkel) Rosch. I'm interested in their obits and any other info on early Rosches in MN.

This is Frank, Megan Rosch's (the other one) dad. Are you still researching the Rosch family? I have taken a four year break from it and am getting back into it. Your dad and I communicated a while about it and I found some good info from Schoenecken. But haven't done much since.

My great-great grandmother's name was Amalie Rosch. Born 1857. She married Herman Eichhorn and had a daughter Maria. But her last name would have been Eichhorn. If Amalie sounds familiar, please contact me.

Mathias Kimmig, born 1856 in Baden Germany, immigrated to US in 1880 and married Caterina Rosch/Roesh. They lived their lives in Utica, NY--he as a laborer for the railroad and she as a homemaker. They had three children, Joseph (never married) Sophia (married Jospeph Linder) and Catherine (married Peter P. Linder). Any information on Mathias' parents in Germany would be appreciated.

Caterina Rosch immigrated to the US in 1880 and settled in upstate New York in Utica. I'm assuming she married in 1881 to Mathias Kimmig from Baden Germany. So far I'm unable to make any connection back to Germany. Catherina was born in 1860-and I'm assuming somewhere in the Baden,
Wurtemburg area. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Meg,

My Rosch family comes from the Eifel area of Germany in the Rhineland. Schoenecken is the name of the little village many, many Rosch come from. My line goes all the way back to the 1700's also right in that village. From the research I've done, many Roschs settled in the Minneapolis-St.Paul region of MN. Haven't come across any Franks or Dennis tho'. Would be interested to see if we're related someway. Maybe way back in Germany. My father was Reinhard Rosch (b.1920) in MN, grandfather John (b.1892) in MN, great grandfather Reinhard (b.1858) in Schoenecken, Germany, great-great grandfather Benedict (b.1822) Schoenecken Germany, GR-Gr-Gr-Grandfather Mauritius (b.1795)Schoenecken, and finally Hubertus (b. about 1760?)Schoenecken Germany. Anyone sound familiar? Good luck with your search also.

Hi my name is Dawn. I live in Elmhurst, PA.I have lived in this area all my life so I'm not sure if I'm family to you.
My father 's name is Robert Rosch and he's from Council Bluffs, Iowa. I don't have much information on him because
he left my mother,myself and my older brother when we were
just babies. I have never seen a picture of him, but every time I got into trouble my mother told me that I was just
like my father and I looked just like him. I often wondered
about his family and how many siblings I do have. I know of one his name is Jimmy. I'm 52 and my brother is 54 that would put him older than that. Robert's father had a business on the docks in Council Bluffs. If you have more info please email me as I would love to know his side of his family. My mom has passed away so I can not ask her any questions....not that she would answer me. I never ask any.
I do know he married a rich woman who paid his child support
to mom and when that was done he didn't need her any more and the next wife's name was Marlene. They lived in Reno.
I hope that gives you something and maybe that will help me.

Maybe you found out a little more within the last seven years.
Joseph, Mathias, Blasius and Anton Rösch were born between 1718 an 1730 less than 10 miles from Simonswald, Baden. If one of these brothers is the father of your ancestor Johann Rösch I may help you.

Hi all,

Mom's maiden name is Roesch, being descended from a Johann Friedrich Roesch, b in Baden 1835.

If enough (4-6) people are interested, I will volunteer to organize a Roesch surname DNA project. I have already started a DNA project for dad's side of the family.

The objectives would be:

1) To determine if the various Roesch/Rosch families in the USA are related to each other, or if they are different families that adopted the same surname.

2) If they are different families, then figure out which ones are related to each other.

3) Hopefully, some day connect to Roesch relatives who stayed behind in Europe.

DNA testing is painless-- just a few cells are scraped off the inside of your cheek. Many people tend to have concerns about DNA testing, so it is important to note that because DNA testing for genealogical purposes is a bit different from DNA testing for other purposes, DNA testing for genealogy is of limited use for anything except genealogy.

Because of the way genealogical DNA testing works (it is based on the Y chromosome, which is passed on from father to son in an unbroken chain)-- it only works for males. Thus, the participants must be men with a Roesch/Rosch surname.

Please contact me directly at wparrott@att.net if you have questions or are interested in participating in such a project. If there is a critical mass, I will get the ball rolling. My Roesch cousin already had his DNA tested-- but there are no matches in the data base-- he is out there all alone!

Have been researching Reuschlein.. but came accross a Roesch or similar spelling in Burlington, WI.. was running for a political office against Frank Reuschlein... may be a link.. you can check the site @ http://www.burlingtonhistory.org/

Have also been researching Matthias/Melchoir/Michael Rushline/Roshlein/Roeschlein b.1818 had many sons.. all had first or middle name of John. Suspect his father was John Reuschlein b.1798 in Bavaria and moved to Cumberland, MD.. d. 1882.

If you come accross anything, would appreciate a heads up.

I am a Rosch, without the "umlaut" or "e". So would we be included? My research has narrowed down to Schoenecken, Germany, where my contacts say there are different lines of Rosch and the ones with the umlaut/e are of another line.

I am a grandson of John and Mary Rosch (Minneapolis) and have been researching the Rosch and Hrkal (Herkal) sides. I have traced the Rosch side to Germany and have recently been in contact with our relatives in Schoenecken, Germany.

However, I have little info on the Hrkal side. I would be very interested in anything you have on them. Thank you so much!

Do not know Roesch in Chicago area. Our Mathais Roesch Came to U S 1857 with family from Baden Baden, Germany and settled and lived in Grant Co. Wisconsin. Sorry. Maybe some day cousin Roesch;Rosch.

I too belong to the same Roesch family as you & your father. Joseph Eugene Rosesch b. 1924 in Middleton,N Y md. 1947 to Carolyn Krum b. 1926 in Liberty, NY. Hi John,

There are at least three generations with a Hubert Melchisedech. Here is what I gathered from the census data:

Hubert (AKA Hubbord) Melchisedech (born in 1817 or 1818) married Gertrude Rosch (born in 1827 or 1828). They emigrated from Germany in 1861. Their children were Nicholas (AKA Nickes, born about 1851 in Germany), Peter (born about 1862 in Germany), Anna (born about 1863 in Minnesota), Hubert (AKA Hubbord, born about 1865 in Minnesota), Lucy (born about 1867 in Minnesota), and Maggie (AKA Margaret?, born about 1869 in Minnestota).

The Hubert Melchisedech born in 1865 married someone named Margaret (maiden name unknown, born about 1869). They had four children: Florence (born about 1890 in MN), William (born about 1892 in MN), Hubert (born about 1900 in MN), and Lucile (born about 1904 in MN).

The Hubert Melchisedech born about 1900 lived with his sister, Florence, and her husband, William Hengen, in MN in 1920 (therefore her name was Florence Hengen).

This same Hubert later moved to the state of Washington.

Mathais Roesch b. 1812 in Achern Baden,Germany md. 1835 in Achern to Magdalena Yehle b. 1814, Achen. They and their family came to USA in 1857. The following information was given to me and hope it is correct. Mathais parents: Franz Joseph Rosch b. 1771 Keppeirodeck/Sommereck md 1804 to Maria Agatha Graf b.1770 of Valdum/on the Schwend. Franz-- parents: Jakob Rosch of Sasbachwalden md. Maria Magdalena Bazier. Jacob parents: Andrea Rosch md. Gertrude Geisler.

Unfortunately, your Rosch family is not mine, however, I have done extensive research for other family members in the Kappelrodeck, Waldulm, Achern, and Oberkirk areas. Are you aware that the LDS has church books for those areas? Give them a try, as I know there are Rosch families there as I have seen them in the books.

Hi! I am also looking for PA Rosch. I have found Catherine and Elizabeth Rosch {twins} in Bucks Co,PA born in 1881. Their parents were Henry Rosch and Christine. I have found a record of their baptism at the Trinity Union Lutheran and Reformed Church. I am trying to link this Catherine to Andrew Wirt. They were my 4/th gr.grandparents. They went onto Botetourt Co.,VA in the late 1700's. Do you think we connect?

Hi! The Rosch I am looking for came out of Bucks Co.,PA in the mid to late 1700's. Most of the early families "Germans" came out of MD and PA and later VA and further south. Many went onto OH and further west. Catherine Rosch and Elizabeth Rosch {twins}were born abt. 1781. I believe Catherine may have married Andrew Wirt, and resided in Botetourt Co,VA. They had 8 children. Most went onto OH in the 1825-30's. Does anyone connect?

I tried writing personally, did not work. I live in Wisconsin near where Mathais Roesch b. 1812 Achern,settled on farm June 1857 with family. Had been glove maker. Write --lavond@mhtc.net He had sent his older son Joseph 1851 & he stayed in New York. Then son Frank came in 1855 & from Chicago wrote home-- farms good in Iowa. Well came to Wisconsin and raised family. Some same names so just maybe family?? Have it spelled Rosch at times. I'm researching Rosch's in Chicago circa 1880, specifically a Peter Rosch, wife Mary, and a Frank Rosch who may have been Peter's brother. There weren't many Rosch's in Chicago at that time, and the ones I've found often have similar name patterns among their children. Peter was my great-grandfather. Would be interested in any Rosch/Roesch/Rosh (have seen several different spellings) researchers with links to Chicago. Thanks much.

SOMMERECK & Maria Graf B 1770 in Waldum on the
Schwend. Mathais siblings Johann George b. 1805, Katharina 1806, Albinuus b. 1808; Creszensin b. 1809 & Maria b. 1810. Help with these siblings. Thanks

Roxanne, I was just going thru the postings for Rosch name and came across your's that said you e-mailed me about my grandparents-mainly my grandmother Mary Herkel Rosch. My e-mail has changed so that may be why I never rec'd it, but am looking forward to any information we may be able to share. I was estranged from my father for over 40 yrs. but did get to be with him before he died. His father passed away in around 1960. Mordecai Rosch had a sister named Charlotte. Does anyone know if Paul has any relatives?

is a Franz Anton Roesch from Waldulm-Simmersbach born 1769. He was the last mayor (in German: Verwalter)of the monastery Allerheiligen.His wife was Maria Anna Fischer from Simmersbach.

First: please excuse me for my English.
It is possible, that we are cousins.
My Mathias Roesch has in my research at least two sons. Franz Anton and Josef. Josef was the witness to the marriage of his brother Franz Anton. Franz Anton was born on 8 June 1769 in Waldulm-Simmersbach- near Kappelrodeck-Ottenhoefen. To Sasbachwalden or Achern you have only a few kilometers.Schwend is a part of Simmersbach-I think a Farm.

I think Lillians (look in the message board) mans-family belongs also to the Roeschs from Simmerabach, but I have to search in Waldulm-Simmersbach direct. I search for teh father of my Mathias Roesch (born 1721 in Simmersbach)

I hope I can find some informations in the church books of Waldulm-Simmersbach).

I can not see that we are of same Roesch/Rosch but one never knows. I know our Mathais Rosch/Roesch b. 1812 and came with family to U S in 1856 to Wisconsin from Achern, Germany. Had sent a son over 1851 and another in 1855. I do have information on their families but no one living in Ohio.
