Hi, Alvin my Rosario is from Asomante Ailbonito in around the 1910, Bonifiacia Rosario de ortiz she is the granma of my mother born around the 1800. don't know went but her children is listed in the census of 1910 as,Estevan ortiz y rosario born about 1870, Nasario ortiz y rosario,Pedro ortiz y rosario,Petronila ortiz y rosario, Juana ortiz y rosario, and there is a Moncerrate Martinez de Ortiz the dau inlaw of Bonifacia Rosario de ortiz. Do you happen to know Alejo's first wife's name?

When I asked my Grandma (Anna H Borrero) about Alejo, she said she always knew him and the closest relationship she had was with Jose Antonio. She remembers Nilda vaguely.

Any Rosario family history (as far as his mother or other Rosario Siblings) you are willing to share would be much appreciated :)

Hi. This person, Alejo Rosario Borrero was my grandfather, born in Peñuelas and dead in Ponce, on July 1970. Juan Ramón Rosario and José Antonio Rosario Echevarría were his sons from his first wife.

He got married again with Paula Tousset García (a taino like woman), from whom he had 1 son and three daughters: Rafael, Josefa María (my mother) Teresa (handycapped), and Elba (also called Nilda). Only my mother, and "Nilda" still alive.

My mother Josefa lives with me in Ponce. "Nilda" lives in Florida USA. Rafael dead a few years ago, on december 22. Teresa dead on january 7th, 1982.

Rafael had 6 children: 3 sons and 3 daughters: Rafael, Dionisio, Javier, Elba, Olga, and Verónica. Josefa had 3 children: one daugther (me) and two sons: Marco and José. "Nilda" had two sons: Francisco, and Carlos. Teresa never married.

Our family is still growing, so to mention any more people would be difficult for me, but I hope this information is useful for you.

His brother's would include VICTOR BORRERO Y CRUZ and FRUCTUOSO BORRERO Y CRUZ and MODESTO BORRERO Y CRUZ.

He had a son JUAN RAMON ROSARIO from a first wife who died before 1920

From the second wife had Two or Three daughters... I do not know their names.

There is some sort of connection to a CORNELIA ROSARIO (she is his point of contact in his WWI Draft Registration card) of MACANA, Penuelas.

Thanks for the reply. The Justino Rosario I have in my records was born about 1902 and was married to Estebania Quinones who was born about 1907. I don't know who their children were.

Estabania was the daughter of Jesus Quinones and Maria Provendencia Rosario. Jesus died in 1910 and Maria eventually re-married to Natalio Escobar my great grandfather.

Maria Provendencia's other daughter, Maria Quinones married Dionisio Luis Escobar.

Maria Provendencia's parents were Juan Rosario and Juana Fabriciana Cintron.

I have plenty of other Rosarios but these are the only ones I can connect to Justino.

Let me know if you have any Rosario family info you can share and we'll see if we have any connections.

My father was Emiliano Rosario Melendez, from Cayey, P.R.
He was born in 1906 (died 1978). I was born in San Lorenzo. I grew up in The
Bronx.
The actual name is Del Rosario (from the Canary Islands). My
grandfather was Celestino Del Rosario. I have his baptismal record
which I got from the church in San Lorenzo. You may try that route. I have
many lost cousins in The Bronx. I'm sure we are related. The Rosarios came
to P.R. (and to Louisiana) in the 1800s because they knew the
sugar cane industry. Some of my father's brothers/sistes: Crispin, Pablo,
Juan, Pepe, Daisy (who lives in Chicago), and others. Now, you may try through the
LDS church to do some trace. They microfilmed all of the available information. And the
catholic churches kept meticoulous records. I found my mom's relatives that way.
The Munoz de Oneca (came from Cordova in 1793) and the Sanchez de Cos came from Santander, Spain.
Those two families founded the town of San Lorenzo in 1814.
We also have Riveras (another Canary Islander) in our family. The towns of Caguas plays a large
role in the Rosario and Rivera name. Keep me posted and I hope this gives you
an insight. Take care.

My last name is also Rosario and my family is from the Dominican Republic. My dad, Francisco Antonio Rosario-Mercado(born in the capital), my grandfather, Francisco Antonio Rosario-Cruz(born in Santiago), and my great grandfather, Francisco Antonio Rosario-Almonte(born in Puerto Plata). They all served in the Dominican military. And my grand uncle Carlos Teo Rosario-Cruz was a famous boxer in the Dominican Republic. The surname Rosario comes from the latin word "rosarium" which means "rose garden" & is Spanish and Portuguese..maybe mentioning these names to your family members'll help , maybe we're related.

I wave Rosario's in my family form the east side of Pueto Rico. Primarily Fajardo and Luquillo. Most info is in early 1900s and late 1800s. My great great Grandmother was Rufina Rosario and was married to Lopez Escobar. There were also a Providencia and Maria Rosario that married into the family. Have few others that that are related by marriage,
Justino, Miquel, Candido, Carmen, Francisco, Guillermo, Julio, Juan Lorenzo, Lorenza and a few more. If anything rings a bell or you have any more information, just drop me a line.

Pedro Hernández married Lucia Rosario.

The only evidence I have of Pedro is that his name mentioned in son's (Bonifacio- my ancestor) Marriage Certificate.

I only have eidence of two sons, one being Bonifacio Hernández Rosario, B: Abt. 1820 in Rio Grande, Puerto Ríco, D: Bef. 1880 in Fajardo, Puerto Ríco, M: Maria Antonia Ramos Cintron, 08 Oct 1878 in Parroquia Santiago Apostol; Fajardo, Puerto Ríco.

Another brother is Luciano Hernández Rosario, which I received from an Ancestry.com contact, but have no info on him either.

For Bonifacio Hernández Rosario, I have all the information on his children and spouseto share. He was born about 1820 in Rio Grande, Puerto Ríco. He died before 1880 in Fajardo, Puerto Ríco. He married Maria Antonia Ramos Cintron on 08 Oct 1878 in Parroquia Santiago Apostol; Fajardo, Puerto Ríco, daughter of Miguel Ramos and Higinia Cintron. She was born about 1840 in Fajardo, Puerto Ríco. She died before 1920.

Looking to find information on his Brother Luciano Hernandez Rosario, any other siblings as well as information on Pedro and Lucia themselves.

Hi. Sorry didn't answer sooner, but I was not getting the emails from Ancestry. Yes that Udeth and Udeth E. are my brother and nephew. I always asked my mom where she got my name from, because people would asked me. When I sent you that email is when my mother told me the thruth. And like you said it takes two to tango. I just heard yesterday from a brilliant professor that "we need to look to the past to understand the present, and need to look at the present just to move forward in life". I think that my mother, she's already 75 years old, just wants to make ammends with her past. I love my brother dearly, never consider him anything other than my full blown brother. People will ask, for obvious reason, he's white we're dark skin. But we didn't bother giving any explanations, as we didn't care. Teddy, as we call my brother, has a huge family of his own. I would like my mom to know that all is forgiven. She's getting old, and we cannot prevent what time does to an elderly's mind, but before she starts losing her memory I would like her to know that your family somehow had accepted my brother as part of your family. well my moms last name is rosario and she was born in dominican republic with a big family. i always thought my life was boring so i decided to see if i had any family history. what was or is your grandmothers name? and what was or is your great grandmothers name?

hi hector! thanks for the info. if i can't trace actual people, maybe i can at least find out where the rosario family originated. my daughter has relatives in the bronx and manhattan as well. maybe related? her paternal grandmother is eloise rivera, paternal grandfather is efrain rosario. i know eloise had a sister named carmen. that's about all i know. susan

By the way, Mayaguez is in the western part of Puerto Rico. Many
of the people have French names due to the whites who fled for their lives from Haiti
when the slaves revolted. We do have Rivera in my familyl. That name too, came the
PR from the Canary Islands. Canary means dog island. I guess they must have had a lot ot
them roaming all over.
