I would be happy to do any research you need on this Roome family although I doubt they are related to the Roome's you are researching. This book covers the decendents of Willem Jansen Roome and Jannatje Jans (his wife) who arrived in America in 1659 aboard the Moesman. The entire book covers their descendents originating with their son Peter Willmse Roome. My research indicates they were strong members of the Dutch Reformed Church. Thank you for replying to my message. We could be related. I can't trace my Roomes back any further than John Roome who married Frances Hammond in 1783. I think he was born in 1760. I would love to be able to go back further, but I haven't been able to trace his parents. How did you get your research back into the 1600s? Regards Liz

Thank you for the interesting information. My great great grandfather was John Bushnell Roome, born on 1st December, 1827 at Cloyne Parish, Queenstown, Cork, Ireland. He married and died in South Africa. His wife was Susanna Frederika Helena Bailey who was born in the Transvaal, Pretoria, Africa.
My John Bushnell Roome had a "William Roome" father and "Catherine Cecilia Bushnell" as his mother. Catherine was born in Virginia (USA I think) and William was born in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England. What a mixture of places! And I live in South Australia, where some of the Roomes settled!!

I actually had quite a bit of information about the 'Berry' side of my family...I'm quite lucky...between my research on rootsweb and familysearch.org I was able to connect all the dots...that's when I found out about the Roome connection!!! Those are the only sites I use....
