Josiah Rohr/Rohrer in Wash. County, MD 1870

Looking for Josiah (b. 1831) and his wife Susan prior to 1870. They appear in the 1870 Census in Wash. County, MD. Both say they are born in Maryland and they have 6 children listed...John H.(my ggg-grandfather), Emma S., Ann R., Alice E., Julia L, and Harvey E). But when I try to go back to the 1860 or 1850 census I am not finding them. It's possible with all the weird spelling variations of the name Rohrer that they are there. Can anyone help me?

I think I have the answer to your puzzle. I am researching my maternal grandfather's family by the name Roher. I have an obituary about Francis Roher who was my ggrandfather's brother. In it there is mention that Francis is the son of John and Mary Munson Roher. It also says that he is survived by a brother, Clarence Roher, and a sister, Flora Williams of IL. In the 1880 Census, there are twins listed as Flora and Nora. In the 1900 Census, it shows that they had 9 children with 8 living. I do so hope this is what you are looking for. If it is, I can give you more details.

Sincerely,
Bari Murray

Are you related to the following Roher Family?:

Eleanor Greenland Roher (1849-1907) married to Elichiam Roher (1837-1916). Their Children:

Harmon Blair Roher (1864-?)
Stanton Elsworth Roher (1866-?)
Frank Warren Roher (1867-?)
Judson Scott Roher (1869-?)
Newton (called "Newt") Edmund Roher (1871-?)
Emma Belle Roher (1872-?)-Twin of Wilbert
Wilbert Ambrose Roher (1872-?)-Twin of Emma
Henry Clay Roher (1875-?)
Albert Grant Roher (1877-?)
Ralph Byron Roher (1880-?)
Lizzie May Roher Rupert (?-?) (spouse:Jesse C. Rupert)

Do you have more info on this family? My only info on this family comes from the booklet written by Frank Warren Roher, titled:A Brief Sketch of Caleb Greenland and his wife, Christina Curfman with some of their ancestors and part of their descendants. The book was published in 1924 for family members who attended a family reunion for the Greenland family in Huntingdon County, PA in 1923. The info was provided by people who attended the reunion. My info is not up to date. The info dates to 1924. I would especially like to know more about Frank Warren Roher and his family. He had three daughters. I believe that these Rohers lived in Huntingdon County, PA . Thanks for any info you may provide!
From Jil
P.S. I do have some photos of Newt Roher, Eleanor Greenland Roher, E.L. Roher, Ralph Byron Roher, and Scott Judson Roher.

Roher Family History

Ruth, I am one of your many distant relatives. In fact, you are a cousin of my mother (Marjorie Mae McCoy Miller) and my father (Isaac "Melvin" Olando Miller). I have the history of the Roher Family dating back a few hundred years. My maternal great grandmother was Esther Ellen Roher McCoy a sister to Florence. I do not have a copy of the Roher family history with me, but I do in my house in James Creek. Off the top of my head... Florence was the oldest, her siblings include: Hunter, John, James, Dison, Esther, Stephen and a few others. Her parents were John Roher Jr. ( a stone mason) and Charlotte Locke. Her paternal great grandparents were: John Roher Sr. and Jane "Jennie" Locke. Maternal Great Grandparents were: Phillip Locke and Ellen Sollers. If you would like a copy of the Roher Family History that I have, you are more than welcome to it....Rus
