Hi Kate: I have only recently joined the ancestry message boards and saw your message posted some years ago re Roddy's in the Midlands My maiden name was Roddy, father Ernest Patrick Roddy born in Lichfield Staffs 1899, and my grandfather was John Roddy b. 1854/55 in Kilmovee, Co Mayo. He came to Lichfield approx. 1880 and appears in the census 1881-1911, and died 1927.
