Robert W. Roache, age 80, of North East,
died on Wednesday August 15, 2012
at UPMC Hamot.
He was born on November 13, 1931 in North East to the late Paul W. and Mary Catherine Graham Roache. In 1950 Robert graduated North East High School and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy. He was formerly employed with the North East School District as a school bus driver for 25 years, retiring in 1993. He also owned and operated Bob's Appliance Store in North East, served as North East Cemetery maintenance supervisor, and St. Barnabas House facility engineer. Robert was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church, North East JC Club (past president), and enjoyed woodworking, landscaping, automotive mechanics, and home construction. In addition to his parents, preceded in death are his sister Jean Butts and her husband Clifford and nephew Paul Butts. Robert will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years Anne Davis Roache whom he married July 21, 1956; children, Michael P. Roache of Rochester, N.Y., Robert M. Roache and wife Judy of North East, Susan A. Andrzejewski and husband Tony of North East, Kerry E. Dor and husband Lyonel of Saco, Maine, Thomas P. Roache of North East, James H. Roache and fiance Caroline Collins of Stow, Mass.; grandchildren, Matthew Johnson-Roache, Nicole Burrows, Patrick Roache, Julia Roache, Danielle Dor, Yusuf Dor, Amirah Dor; Sherrie Roache-Nowak, Lisa Craig, Tammy Wienhiemer, and Sam Chestnut; great-grandchildren, Austin Roache and Theodore Burrows; Nieces, Mary Abraham of Marion, Ohio, and Carol Baker of Lakeland, Fla., a nephew George Mark Thomas and companion Ruth of Erie; and several cousins. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church. Interment at North East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Gregory Church, 136 West Main Street, North East, PA 16428. A special mention of thanks to Ball Pavilion for the loving care Dad received while there.
