Mary HARRISON was born in VA but her family removed to IL before she gained adult status. In our "Family Memoirs" compiled by my cousin, Jonathan Binkley, the indication is that she resided in Madison Co., IL. Because of that indicator, I assume she and David ROACH resided there but I could be mistaken and that was where she lived with the second husband. Mary and David's daughter, Mary ROACH, is shown to have married Jacob WALKER but no other information is provided.

Thanks for the reply and good luck! Hope this helps you and then me!

Do you have any geography to go with these names after the marriage? My line includes a William Roach who was born in Ohio around the time David and Mary were having children. I don't know where he was born, but he married in Paulding County and died in Preble County. His wife's name, by the way, was Laura Mallet. Ring any bells?

I believe the parent of your David Roach b. 1789 KY is Francis Roach b. Apr 1739 in former Fairfax Co., VA. A revolutionary war soldier who joined the NC line in 1776 in Dobbs Co., NC. Francis moved to IL abt. 1815 and settled in Madison Co. He died at the unheard of age of 106 and buried in the Old Roach Cem. now the Lutheran Cem in Hamel IL. Don't know his wife's name. You will find Francis listed on the 1840 census living with David. Also, Francis had a son named Matthew b. 1769 in NC. That's my line. They owned a mill in the area for years.

I'm researching James ROACH (m. Nancy FOREHAND)in Illinois, and possible connection to Francis ROACH.

Francis, son David, and Matthew (brother or nephew of Francis?) settled in St. Clair County, Ill., about 1806. (In 1800, Francis and Matthew were in Livingston County, Ky.) There is a marriage record in St. Clair for David ROACH and Hannah ATCHESON in 1814.

Both Francis and David bought land in Madison County, near Hamel, and Francis lived with his son until he died in 1845 at age 106. David died in 1848. His wife was called Mary. (Did he marry a 2nd time? I find David Roach in St. Clair married to Rachel Browning in 1834, no other marriage found for him. He is the only David Roach I've found in this time period.)

In 1850 Mary and children had moved to Litchfield in Montgomery County and she was still there in the 1870 census. (In 3 censuses, she reports birth in VA once and OH twice.)

Mary was granted 2 land tracts of 80 acres in Litchfield Twp by warrant deed. I don't know why. She would not have married in 1839 as David wasn't dead yet, and she is clearly named his widow in his probate notice in 1849.

Your Mary Harrison and Parker married in Monroe County, SW of St. Clair. If there is a connection issue, I've found there were also some early Roach settlers in Monroe about the time Francis et al moved into St. Clair. Perhaps you're looking at one of those Roaches; I don't know if they are related to Francis. Maybe it's likely, but I haven't gotten that far.

I have documentation upon request. Good luck.

My GGGgrandfather was James Roach. He lived/died in Litchfield Il. and was buried at Crabtree Cemetery. We have documentation on everyone one back to him. We are stuck trying to find out who his father was. I would love to get any documentation you have on the Roach's that may assist us in finding out who may be his father. Thanks in advance. Sounds like the documents you have may be of some help.
