Rodney, What is the source of your belief that the parents of Robert Ring (1614-1690) are Richard Ring and Elizabeth Shropshire? I believe that these parents, whatever their names, had at least 3 male children, as follows -- Richard Ring (1609-1675), Robert Ring (1614-1690) and Benjamin Ring (b abt 1616, may have married abt 1640). Of course, most of these dates are "guesstimates". I believe only the death of Robert has primary documentation in the form of his probated will. The death date of Richard is given in a National Park Service booklet called "Ringfield Plantation", by Hatch, which is about the Virginia settlement of his son Joseph. I believe Benjamin's existence was taken from the records of the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.

Please share whatever further information you find. Several of us are on this track, but a major difficulty is finding English records from the 17th century and earlier.
