Hello Jon,

Good luck on your trip to the Sutro! Please share with us the highlights of your finds. You mentioned several possible lineages for your Thomas. His uncle, Robert, is probably not one of them. Robert migrated to Massachusetts in 1639. Robert's line has been heavily researched and I am not aware of any hint of a "southern" connection other than the brief visit of nephew Joseph to his Massachusetts relatives in 1668 -- en route to Virginia.

Robert had four sons, but to the best of my knowledge -- and I have pretty good data on 3 of them and somewhat less on the fourth -- none of them traveled to or lived in the South. All lived and died in, or close to, Massachusetts.

About the reported brother, -- Benjamin (b. abt 1615) -- I have no information except for the hint that he was born. If you know or discover more, please pass it on.

My data show that Joseph Ring's brother Isaac had a son, also named Isaac, born about 1670. This might be a link.

What about your earlier suggestion that the link may be found in a John Ring "Early Virginia Immigrants" or a Thomas Ring, transported in 1657? Have you ruled these two out?

Good luck, and please keep us informed.

Franz Martin
