I have info on Henry and Emma Jane Herrick Rimbach(k). I have a copy of both death certificates as well as a newspaper clipping of Henry's obituary. I was wondering about Emma's maiden name because her father is listed as Richard Bentley on her death certificate--info given by her daughter Ada. I also have many copies of documents supporting Henry's many wounds during the Civil War.
You may have answered one of my mysteries. I found records of two young female students in a priviate school in upstate NY and couldn't connect them to anyone. If I read your message correctly there were no male children from Henry's marriage. Please try to get Henry's death certificate and/or will. this will give us alot of hints as to where to look next. My Rimbachs all came through Boston and alot still live in Mass , so I think if we can get more information we may connect. My grandfathers brother was born in Lansingburgh(Troy)NY and I could never figure out why his father left Boston then returned. Where are you geographly ?

My greatgrandparents are John William and Elizabeth (Reese) Rimbach of Hazleton, PA. I have a note from my grandmother (their daughter) that John William Rimbach migrated from Germany. John and Elizabeth also had a son named John William Rimbach. My great-uncle was a dentist in Easton, PA. The elder John W. Rimbach died of pneumonia in 1905.
She had 2 sisters that died in infancy and a brother Dr. John Rimbach (a dentist in Easton, PA) My 4 brothers and I are interested in hearing from any of our long lost relatives. Other than John C. Rimbach coming from Germany, we have no information on him. Can anyone help. He was very musically inclined. He played a lot of instruments.
Just began searching for information on Henry Rimbach from Hessen, Germany. Born 23 October 1840 immigrated to U.S and married Emma J Bently Hearick in 1867. She was from Kent, England. They had 6 children, one of which is my relative (Lydia Mae Rimbach). Would like to find any information possible on this family. Please reply by email. Thanks

Henry Rimbach

Thanks for your quick reply. The information I have is mostly from actual census records. I found reference to Henry becoming naturalized in 1865 in Boston, Emma (his wife)naturalized in 1963. Census records show their family in Westfield, Chaut. N.Y. in both 1870 and 1880. Found them in Buffalo, N.Y. in 1900, not found in 1910 and in Westfield again in 1920. He died 19 Jan 1929. His wife, Emma J. Herrick (or Hearick)I think was adopted by Thomas Hearick and Sarah A. Boynton. The Rimbach's had 6 children in census records:Sarah Antonette, Martha L. (Mattie), Nellie Agusta, Laura, & Ada Emma (Alice). Nellie Agusta died as an infant. Lydia Mae Rimbach married Zoa Alonzo Williams on 28 Oct 1897 and had 6 children. I would appreciate any information you may have on Henry or his parents. I'll give you a call later just wanted you to have what info I had already. His wife is assumed adopted since noted that way on census records. I am also looking into her line from Kent, England too. Thanks so much - I am kind of new at this!

Family of Henry Rimbach

It's amazing how things come together. On the 1900 Census, Henry, Emma, Laura & Alice were listed. Henry was listed as a school janitor, yr of Naturalization 1866, yrs in US 35, married 32yrs. Wife Emma, no occupation, yr naturalized 1863, yrs in US 37, married 32. 6 children, 5 living. Girls Laura & Alice listed as "at school" ages 19 & 16. In 1900 census (June 6, 1900) they lived in Buffalo on North Division Street. Like I said, I couldn't find them in 1910 but they returned to Westfield, NY and remained there until his death in 1929. He is listed at at 65 N. Portage St. in Westfield. They also had a lodger living with them in 1925 - Mertla E. Granger (75) US born. Most of my information is from census but I do have family pictures of Henry & family. When I say this is my line, that's not quite so. It's actually my husband's family. Lydia Mae Rimbach is his grandmother - Henry is his great-grandfather. My husband, George Henry Wright was born and raised in Upstate NY (Syracuse/New Woodstock). It has been fun to have these people come to life thru the census records, but I want to learn more. His mother had a family bible that I was able to jot some names and dates from. I've just worked up from there. We now live in the West (Orem, Utah). It's helpful to be close to the geneology libraries at SLC and BYU in Provo, but I really have had fun on the internet. I haven't downloaded any of my files yet to the Ancestry.com site since I have just started. However, up until now I've been at a standstill. Thanks for your help. I check with family and see if they have a death certificate/will. Check in latter.

Hi Rich. My name is Mary Hauser, and I work for a Museum at North Carolina State University. I've been researching a piece of cut work done by Kaspara Haug/Haugh (nee Nielsen) mother of Nora Haugh Rimbach. I believe one of your emails mentions that you are related to Nora. I've traced Kaspara from the 1890's through the 1920 census. However after that I have no info on her or any of the rest of her family. Any information about this family that you could give me would be wonderful.
Just so you know, the museum opperates as a non-proffit agency providing arts to the University, and any information you pass along will be kept as historical information about the cutwork piece.
Thanks!
ps-your emails have been very helpful. thanks for being so dedicated to your research.

Hi Rich, I am still searching for info on my great grandfather. I found him on the MA 1900 census living in a Worchester, MA Insane Hospital. The libraries I go to don't have the 1910 MA Soundex so I haven't been able to locate him. I think my aunt told you he died in the late 1800's but I don't think that is true. I'd like to get a death certifcate but I'd like to pin point the year better. Does anyone have access to this Soundex? I've ordered his military records but they are slow. They must be swamped. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Nancy
