Hi Sylvia,

I'm your second cousin. My Great-grandfather's last name was Cubillos. We know he was a Spaniard who settled in Pinos Zac. And he had a silver mine. His wife was an Indian by the name of Juanita. They had children, my grand-mother (my mother's mother)was the oldest. Her name was Mercedes. I never thought I would have the joy of finding any of my Cubillos family.

I'd would love to know more about the Cubillos family history, and hear from you. I'd also like to attend the next family reunion. I also have two siblings from my mother's family, Olga, the oldest who lives in San Diego and Raul who lives in Mexico City. Olga knows Uncle Genaro.

This page was only looking for Rimada's - since at one point I used a friend of mine's computer that is named cubillos it is locked in there.. But I don't have any knowledge or want any information on cubillos.. Just RIMADA.. thank you!!

This is the LDS Mormon site . They have the world's most extensive database. I looked both spellings of Cubillos and founds alot of folks from South America, including Bogota. Do me a favor and see if any matches up for you.

My mom's name is Dora. Hey look up Cubillo on Spain's Tourism Website. My husband and I went to Spain in 1998, but we went on a tour, but it included Northern Spain, which is very green and lush. We went to Santander and San Sebastian, great coastal cities. The drive up was like out of a picture of Ireland. Which by the way the Celts settled a great portion of northern Spain. I am wanting to return for two reasons, my husband who is Robles also has a fraternal line named Coz, which is from the Santander region. Ofcourse I would like to do some more digging on the Cubillo(S) name. Please keep me posted. I am finding in my other family name research the roots tend to merge fairly quickly. So we may be kin as my Texas cousins say. Mysister-in-law lived in Miami for seven years and loved it. I visited once and liked it after I got over the culture shock of Spanish being so mainstream, I felt like was in another country.

Very interesting. I had no idea about the seven Cubillos brothers. I will have to ask my father about this to see what he remembers. My aunt Dora is actually the historian of the family and may have more information. I do vaguely remember her mentioning a name like Nicodemo? Something like that but I'll see what else I can dig up. I'm actually in Miami, Florida. I have two brothers in Melbourne, FL and Orlando, FL. I have two uncles and several cousins still in Bogota and a few cousins here in Miami as well.

So, when is this reunion, and I guess the location varies? It sounds like it would be very interesting.

I guess this is in the wrong section. oh well. My Cubillos story eh.

Both my parents are from Bogota Colombia. My father is the Cubillos side from a small town called fusagasuga a small town outside of Bogota. He is Luis Alirio Cubillos. So was his father. Beyond that it gets hard to trace.

It's easier to trace my mother's Sanchez side.

Actually there is no section for Cubillos. My family is from Pinos, Zacatecas, Mexico. It was a major mining town settled after the conquest and was very weathly before the Mexican Revolution. I am from Southern California and I met a college Professor my chance a number of years ago from the Claremont Colleges who told me there were seven Cubillos brothers; all of which settled in South America with the exception of one, which would be my greatgrandfather. I know the name is from Northern Spain. There is in fact a town named Cubillo. If you live on the East Coast I have a cousin named June Cubillos and her father Genaro Cubillos in Newton(Boston) Ma. June is a researcher at MIT. Do you have any roots reserach on the Cubillos name? We have a Cubillos family reunion ever year---we are a very small family. Sylvia Robles
