I am looking for information on Jacob Rials/Ryals ( 1805-1880) He lived in central Alabama in the mid 1800's before moving west. Some ancestry trees say he died around 1880 in Texas, but no back up. His wife was Elizabeth Frost.Any information concerning them or thier family would be greatly appreciated.

Amanda, I appreciate the invitation to Christmas Dinner, but I am already committed to have dinner with two of my children. Just kidding. Guess you confused me with another Richard Rials, but somewhere back in history we are probably all cousins. Merry Christmas !

Hello, I am interested in Jacob Rials/Ryals because I found a land record in Pike Co AL where this Jacob Ryals purchased 39.99 acres of land JOINTLY with a man named Thomas Luby on 01 Dec 1852. Thomas Luby had a son named Thomas Henry Luby (1847-1937) whose first wife was supposedly a Mary "Mollie" A Royals. Is ROYALS perhaps another variant of Ryals or Rials? Mary "Mollie" A Royals supposedly born c1850 in GA and married (place unknown) about 1866 to Thomas Henry Luby. Thomas Henry Luby and wife Mary were living in Randolph Co GA in 1870.

Yes the Ryals/Rials are derived from Royals. By dropping the o Royals became Ryals. In that Scotch-Irish brogue they are pronounced the same. The Rials seems to be mostly an American version of that name. Jacob is listed both ways in various census records. He married Mily Ann Morris from Georgia and lived there for awhile. Some of their children were born there.

Thanks for your reply Richard. The land record I'm talking about is posted online here: http://tinyurl.com/ofwebzu Do you think this particular Jacob Ryals who owned that land jointly with Thomas Luby in Pike Co AL is the same one that you say married Millie Ann Morris from GA? Can you tell me WHERE and WHEN this particular branch of Ryals / Rials were in Georgia?

Excuse my typing error. I intended to say the son of Jacob Ryals/Rials, John H. Rials married Mily Ann Morris. She was born in Georgia in 1835. Jacob's wife was Elizabeth Frost from NC. John H. and Mily Ann are my great grandparents and Jacob of course is my g-g grandfather. I will need to look it up, but John H. Rials and Mily Ann lived in Georgia for awhile and some of their children were born there. Sorry for the confusion. By the way, the 1840 census listed them as Ryals and later as Rials which is my name.
