Hi
The Wycoff Rhamy that I have was married to Catherine Rose Mitchell. They had 4 children. Annette, Abraham, William and Rose Altha.
There seems to be confusion on my part about the Rhamy line because I'm finding like names on family trees on the net but my great grandmothers papers say that Wycoff was killed by Indians in 1866 and she then married a man with the last name of Jewett.
Wycoff lived in the small village of St. Mary's Iowa in 1866 with his wife and children and his parents. From my great grandmothers notes they lived near Nebraska.
I found a Weffcuff Rhamy in the 1860 census in Sarpy, Nebraska. (Evidently it was hard to read the census and his name was misspelled) It listed him as being 22 years old and a farmer who was born in Ohio.
On the net I found a family tree for James Wycoff Rhamy, born 1837, wife Catherine Rose Mitchell, father William Henry Harrison Rhamy and mother Elizabeth Bruce Wycoff. It shows another spouse of Mary Allen. It also shows that James Wycoff died November 22, 1897 in Arkansas. However, herein lies the confusion because the Wycoff in my family tree was long dead by then. But, according to the family tree I found on the net Wycoff would have been the right age of the Wycoff I found on the census.
Also, the family tree I found on the net lists Willam Henry Harrison Rhamy's parents as Richard Rhamey and Mary Jane Riddle. The family tree I found goes back to Didier Remy in 1485, France.
In my Great Grandmothers information the last name is spelled Rhamey.
Rose Altha Rhamey married John Anderson Eakin who had several children, one of them, my grandfather, John Lyman Eakin. One of his daughters is my mother Rosaltha. The e was dropped in her first name.
I have quite a bit of information on Wycoff Rhamey in my Great Grandmothers papers and would be happy to share should you feel this is the same family.
Regards,
Lib

Hi
I ran across this 2004 posting and am hoping that this is still a good email address. I am Scott Rhamey and am a descendant of (James) Wycoff Rhamy.
My line is:
William Edwin Rhamey m. Edith Eileen Beadles,
Edwin Dickenson Rhamey m. Henrietta Decker Jennison, William Henly Rhamey m. Mable Cordilia Knapp,
James Wycoff Rhamy m. Catherine Rose Mitchell
and m. Mary Allen.
William Henry Harrison Rhamy m. Elizabeth Bruce Wycoff

In my research, I've seen our name spelled Remy/Ramey/Rhamy & Rhamey, as I am sure you have. Whether it was due to the census takers mispelling, transcriber errors or even my rooky research methods. But I'm having a heck of time with this genealogy thing.... So I would be most greatful if we could share information.

Thank you so much,
sbrhamey@earthlink.net

Yes, I would like to share information. I am finishing up college classes this week and have to get my kids registered for school so give a week to reply. Also, every one of the different spellings are different variations of the spelling of our Rhamy family. It started out being spelled REMY and has changed through time.

Thanks for the reply.
