Before I left for Texas to attend a Fabulous Fifties high school reunion I did a long response to your posting but it got wiped out and I didn't have time to redo it.
You asked, "Do you know if she passed her love for genealogy to her daughters?" The short answer is 'no'. When Evelyn was preparing to move back to Shreveport, and into an assistant living facility, she asked me to come get her forty-plus years collection of genealogy research collection because none of her family was interested.
My son and I drove to Winnepeg, boxed it up and brought it back to Chattanooga. She and I agreed that the library in Alexandria, LA would be an appropriate facility for it because Rapides Parish families were such a big part of it. However, the library couldn't accept it for lack of space. They are hoping to build a new, larger library but, so far, nothing. I'm still holding it and have never been through all of it.
