Jeremiah Rhame was born about 1745 in Georgetown, SC moved to Clarendon Sc around 1785. He also had a son Jeremiah Jr. who was born in 1785. Ebenezer Rhame was his father and he had a large land grant in the
Georgetown area. Ebenezer had two marriages. One was to Celia, the other unknown. My source of informationis a some pages from the Remy Family in America.

According to information from a book about the Henry wilton Rhame by LR Rhame, Jeremiah Rhame pastored at Catfish Branch Baptist Church, near Latta, SC. He then went to Red Banks baptist Church in Pitt county North Carolina 1758. In 1763 He was pastor at Bear March Church in Duplin County, North Carolina and then returned to the Welsh Neck section of South Carolina and Catfish Branch Bpaitst church from 1771-1788. Catfish Branch baptist church went out of existence. My question is about the relationship between Catfish baptist Church and Catfish Branch Baptist church. Does anyone know if they are one and the same? Rev. Rhame, also
pastored Little Pee Dee Baptist church and Cashaway baptist church. His sons Jeremiah II, Bradley and Ebenezer were also Baptist ministers.

Esther,
Don't realy know if these two churches are one and the same or not, just have what was printed in the Lineage of Henry Wilton Rhame.
Don't know much about the Rhame family other than what is in the book. Henry's lst wife was a sister of my wife's grandfather.
L. Richard Rhame, the author, died a few years back so we can't ask him.

Thanks, Ron. I'm sorry to hear that Mr. LR Rhame is dead. I looked up his address on the internet and it shows Orangeburg. I wonder if he has family living there. The book is really very interesting. If you ever get a picture of Jeremiah Rhame, I would like to have a copy. You may email me at Redbelison@cs.com. Thaks.

Esther,
Richard died either in 98 or 99, I forget which at the moment. His widow still lives in Orangeburg, they had no children (as you can tell from the book also).
We corresponded with him off on for about l0 years. he my wife were multiple cousins, eleven different way, the closest being 2nd cousins.
From what I gathered from him none of the family that had Rhame lines were willing to carry on the torch find any more on that branch of the family. They were interested in what he had found but no one was going to put forth any effort to find more.

Thanks. Maybe I'll write her a note and see if I can look at his research. Rhame's are interesting. I don't know who went where or where the most are living. My grandmother "way back" married into the Andress family.
Incidentally, we have an HB RHame Elementary school here in columbia. Don't know the relationship, but surely there must be one. Thanks.
