Frederick or Friedrich Renneker is the earliest known antecedent in my Renneker family line. He is believed to have been born in Oldenburg or Hanover in what is now Germany in about 1787. He emigrated from Fladderlohausen, Oldenburg (Germany) in about 1835 with his wife (name unknown) and 4 children, and is believed to have come to the U.S. through New Orleans, then traveling up the Mississippi River to St. Louis, Missouri. He settled with his family in the area of Jonesburg, Montgomery County, MO and Warren County, MO. He was apparently illiterate; one source has it that he signed his naturalization papers with an X, which may have something to do with the variant ways his surname is spelled in various sources.
