Philip Renn

Carol Bakle  (View posts) Posted: 11 Oct 1999 3:29PM GMT
I found a source that says my Henry Renn b 1802 Augusta Twp Northumberland Co PA was the son of Philip Renn of the same county. I found a Philip Renn age 72 in PA 1850 Census living with Mary Woodrow 54 and Pricilla Woodrow 28 who I guess were his daughter and granddaughter. I also believe that he had another daughter who married a Ross and one who married a Fleming. He may have had a son named John. With that information, can anyone fill in the details?

What source did you find that Henry Renn is the son of Philip Renn? I have a Henry Renn line which you refer to as being married to a Rachael Campbell (in Indiana). Also, I have the Renn line further back from Philip Renn - I was not able to make any connection until I saw your e-mail. I had a Henry Renn in my information, but did not have any other information about him

My source for Philip Renn being the father of my Henry Renn is Genealogical and Biographical Annals of Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. "His [William Ross] wife Sarah (Renn), born in March 1818, died in June 1879 aged sixty one years, three months, twenty-six days. Her parents, Philip and Rachel Renn had children as follows: Henry, who located in Decatur county, Ind.; John, who located in Lower Augusta township; Betsy, Mrs John Cornell; Sarah, Mrs. Ross, and Tiny, Mrs. John Flemming."

I gave you my source, but I forgot to ask you for the connections you have made with Philip's ancestors. I have all the information from Mardella (Renn) Elmore, my dad's cousin, and I researched in Decatur and Bartholomew Counties IN where I found information on the Renn and Campbells who came to Indiana. I would surely appreciate any information you have on Henry Renn's ancestors. Thanks

If Mardella ever told me that our Henry Renn was really William Henry Renn, I forgot it. His grave stone says Henry Renn. All this time I have been trying to trace Henry Renn married to Rachael Campbell. Could you contact me at my email address? cbakle@gateway.net
It would be easier to send you what I have.

Just returned from Sunbury PA where I found the will of Philip Renn who died 1803. It names wife Phillabena, sons Barnard, Philip, and John and daughter Margaret. Could not find a will for his son Philip.

your query

William,
We are related. If you don't already have more information on the names you submitted, I can provide much more data. Bernard, our common ancestor, came to America in 1730 aboard the ship Thistle, so we have been here a long time and there are loads of us floating around. I have about 30 pages of names of Renns descending from Bernard. If tou will provide me with your snail mail address, I will send you a copy. Unfortunately, I am leaving to go back East to take care of my sister who is in the hospital, but I should be back in 3 or 4 weeks (I hope).
