I appeal to all Ren researchers: please submit a DNA sample from your Male Ren Line!

The test involves rubbing a specially treated cotton swab inside your mouth, and then you send it off in the mail.

In fact, the only painful part of the test is the cost, normally $200, but DNA Ancestry is offering a half-price test through September 30, 2008. With tax, this test comes to about $118. (I paid full price for our test, and I think it was worth every penny. You guys are getting a great deal for half the price!)

We've had three DNA matches so far, all linking to Nicholas Wren and Margaret Bell of Virginia, but really, we've got so many more Ren lines out there, wouldn't it be great to have a DNA sample from every single one?

These DNA tests will only test a tiny part of your DNA: the Y-chromosome, which is passed down from father to son. If you are a female Ren you cannot take the test. However, you can ask your brother, father, uncle, or other male Ren relative to take the test for you.

More details on this offer are here:
http://wrenkin.com/2008/07/25/y-chromosome-dna-test-50-off/

Ren Family Platte Township, Andrew County, MO
I am researching the John A and Sarah A Ren family found in the 1850 census of Platte Township, Andrew County, Missouri. Children listed are Rachael, Alley, Missouri, America, Daniel, Sarah and James Henry. I am especially interested in their daughter Sarah born abt 1848 who I believe is the Sarah Wren listed as the first wife of Wiley Mull in his military papers. Sarah Ren and Wiley Mull were married 21 November 1864 either in Andrew or Gentry county area of MO. They had five children; Daniel L, Charles S, Anna Isadora, Wilburn John, and Sarah E.
Sarah Ren is found again in the 1860 census of Twp 66, Gentry county, MO with the younger children; husband is missing. From there on they seem to disappear except for Daniel who is in the 1870 census of Platte, Andrew, MO listed with a Fletchall family as a day laborer.
I would be glad to share and compare what information I have.

Elizabeth Rivera
Phoenix, AZ

That is a story in itself. There is a Harriett Hinkle in my tree as well as a Sara Caminilla DeBusk marrying a John Hinkle on 9/15/1865. It is very possible that we might be able to help each other. I also have Elisha's marriage in my tree. My e-mail is dink009usa@netscape.net
