Hello!
I'm looking for my 3rd-great-grandfather:
Johann REIMER b. 28 Apr 1815 Russia; d. 4 Jan 1890/1895 Manitoba, Canada. He was married 3 times:
1m. 18 Aug 1835 Agatha ESAU (1815-1853).
2m. 15 Oct 1854 Helena WIEBE (Widow Abraham HAMM) (1817-1873).
3m. 21 Oct 1877 Helena PENNER (Widow Johann HARDER & Abram SUDERMAN) (1828-1910).

Came to Canada on the SS Sardinian in 1876. Arrived in Quebec on July 30.

The following is the 1858 Census data for Johann Reimer (b. 28 Apr 1815)(Grandma #180814) where he and his family are listed at Heuboden #19:
Johann Peter Reimer, 43
wife Helena Jacob, 40
children from his first wife: Peter, 21, Johann, 15, Cornelius, 12, Jacob, 9, Abraham, 7
children from his second wife: Helena, 3 (Note that the Bergthal Gemeinde Buch indicates that Helena was born in 1857).
Thus the census indicates that Johann Reimer's father's name was Peter Reimer, but determining exactly which one is more difficult. Among the possibilities would be the following Peter Reimers (including only those from the Chortitza Colony):
1. Peter Reimer (b. ca 1773)(Grandma #198376)
2. Peter Reimer (b. ca 1792)(Grandma #196400)
3. Peter Reimer (b. ca 1794)(Grandma #198425)
4. Peter Reimer (b. 25 Dec 1795)(Grandma #189047)
Of the above possibilities probably Peter Reimer (b. ca 1773)(Grandma #198376) is the most likely.

Anyone have any more ideas or information?
Also, please don't forget the Reimer-L@rootsweb.com mailing list!
Take care!
