A memorial service for Hugh Reid Pelphrey, 75, of Casa Grande will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cole & Maud Chapel. Mr. Pelphrey was born April 16, 1917, in West Mineral, Kan., and moved to Arizona in 1942 from Kansas. He was a civil engineer for the Arizona Department of Transportation and retired in 1979. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite and El Zaribah Shrines in Phoenix and was a Methodist. He died June 23, 1992, in Casa Grande. He is survived by his wife, Marie; two sons, Hugh Ashton of Louisville, Ky., and William Powers of Phoenix; two daughters, Lyndia Maybury of Las Vegas and Donna Morrow of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Margaret Gregg of Tucson; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation Central, 711 E. Missouri St., Phoenix, 85014.

records of the N.M Department of Health. Mr. Pelphrey died on May 13, 1930.
He and his wife Dorine had been residents of Gallup, New Mexico, where he
had been an auto mechanic. He was 40 years old, and died from a bout of
lobar pneumonia.
I found no listing for this surname in the Albuquerque City Directory, so I
assume that he came here for medical care. He was buried in Fairview
Cemetery in Albuquerque on May 17, 1930.

Nydia was my father's sister. I was born in 1933. I didn't know Hugh Pelphrey, but knew Evelyn well. Most of the Reids are buried in Hosey Hill Cemetery near Cherokee, Kansas. Alexander Reid was my grandfather. One of Alexander's siblings was Hugh Reid born Nov 27, 1845 in Ayr. Their father and my great grandfather, Adam came to PA from Scotland with his wife Agnes McCollough, Mary and Hugh. From there to McAlister Indian Territory (OK), where Alexander Married Margaret Love on July 4, 1881. The family moved to MO, then KS, following Hugh who was superintendent of the Central Coal and Coke Mines, also VP of Scammon State Bank. Nydia died Feb 21, 1963.

I am trying to locate what happened to Landrum Pelphrey, he was in the home of his parents ( John A Pelphrey and Agnes Pelphrey) in 1910 in Washington ,Crawford county Ks , he married Nydia Reid, they had 2 children Hugh Reid Pelphrey and Evelyn Pelphrey, in 1920 in West Mineral, Cherokee ,Ks Nydia Pelphrey is living in the home of her parents (Alexander Reid and Margaret Reid)along with the 2 children, Hugh and Evelyn, by 1930
Nydia is remarried and again with her dad and no apparent husband, with Hugh and Evelyn Pelphrey and now another daughter Margaret Hanson born in abt 1925, , so I have to assume Lanford Pelphrey died between 1917 when Hugh was born and 1925 when Margaret Hanson was born, does anyone know if Landrum Pelphrey is buried around Cherokee county somewhere
