Hi, I have relatives from Germany whose names on the Illinois census taken in 1870 was spelled Reibly but was changed to Raible in 1880 on the Arkansas census. Any relation? donna

After operating for a year under the assumption that the family name was Reiber, I learn that it is Reibli. Yes, it is German in origin.

I am looking for Florian & Theresia Reibli, nee Basler who had a daughter Theresia on 1-19-1839.

I have a Reible in my background. Probably german, because of marriage (German Catholic).
Do we have anthing in common and is this ahelp?

i'm not sure what the name was supposed to be... i've heard that it was changed from maybe reible or reibel, or some other combination. i have not done any research but it was a german name...
