I am wondering if John Jacob Rector and Hans Jacob Richtor are the same person. In researching the family I have found that their birthdates, death dates, spouse and children are the same. This is very confusing to me. If anyone has the correct information on whether they are the same person and what name is the correct name I would appreciate hearing from them. Also who are the parents of John Jacob and Hans Jacob. Thank you!

How goes the work? I do not know if I am descended from John Jacob Rector or not as the farthest I've been able to trace is Daniel Rector born 1770 in Virginia but I look forward to reading your work.

Ann Rector Wright - b 1805 lived in Jefferson Co Indiana and then Missouri

I am researching Ann Rector, daughter of Daniel Rector and Elizabeth Coons of Jefferson Co, Indiana. I thought she was the Ann Rector who married Thomas Wright and moved to Clinton Co, Indiana. I was wrong. I have found enough conflicting data now to discover that there were two Ann Rectors.
Who did the Ann Rector, daughter of Daniel Rector and Elizabeth Coons marry - his will states a Wright, but she moved, with many of her brothers and sisters to N E Missouri. Ann help in clearing up the confusion is greatly appreciated.

Do you know anything about Mahala Rector (b. 1875 in Parrsboro, NS, d. 1938 in Norfolk, MA), daughter of Charles Edward Rector and Agnes Rector (Rector was Agnes's maiden name too)? Mahala married Matthew McCarron (b. 1868 in Joggins Mines, NS, d. 1900 in Springhill, NS). They had two children, Mary Alfretta (b. 1897 in Springhill) and John Hugh (b. 1900 in Springhill).

Matthew died in March 1900, two months after John Hugh was born. I know that Mary Alfretta was given up for adoption. Mahala moved to Massachusetts and went by the name Mildred. She married Sigfrid Carlstrom there in 1905. John Hugh was not with her in the US, so he may have been given up for adoption too.

Looking for info on the family Of Charles Rector born around 1850 in Maryland. Moved to Piedmont Mineral County West Va.. His father was William, born around 1797 in Va., mother Catherine. That is as far as I can go. Do not have any info on parents, etc. I know Charles son, James, was married twice but can't find much info on first wife Nannie Sarver, 2nd wife much younger was Elizabeth Killinger, Johnstown, Pa, my grandmother. Any info or ideas where to look would be greatly appreciated.

Hattie Rector Long
Emory Rector
Minnie Rector Armstrong (Minnie was a twin. The other baby girl
died as a baby.
There was also a girl named Ella that died when she was a nine.

I do not have the book, but I recently acquired a book compiled by my uncle when he was doing his family history search. He state that most of the family history was taken from the book "The History of the Descendants of John Jacob Rector" by Levi Brimner Salmans published in Guanajusto Mexico, 1936. Hi, My name is Darlene MacDonald. I have been following my grandmothers family tree and ended at George in Germany as well and was married to Mary Rebecca Sparks. My grandmothers name was Annie Rector, daughter of Adoniram and Annie Rector. Adoniram is the son of the second George and Hannah Rector. She was born in Parsborro, Nova Scotia in 1988. I just came across this message and hope you're still checking after 12 years! =) I recently became interested in researching my Rector heritage. Daniel Enoch Rector is my great, great, grand-father. So far, I've found and been in touch with a 4th cousin (a great, grand-daughter of Daniel), and I'm also hoping to make a trip to Marshall this summer for the first time. I currently live in Raleigh, NC. All I have right now are the names of all of Daniel Enoch Rector and Louisa Ann Ramsey's children, but would love anything you have to offer to make my trip more productive!

Rosary for Mrs. Elizabeth Rector Burch, 77, of 9419 35th Avenue Northeast, will be said at 6:15 o’clock tomorrow night at Our Lady of the Lake Church.

Requiem Mass will be said at 9 o’clock Friday in the church. Burial will be in Holyrood under the direction of Hoffner’s Fisher Kalfus Mortuary.

Mrs. Burch died Sunday at her home. She was born in Wisconsin. She lived in Spokane 62 years before she came to Seattle eight years ago.

Surviving are her husband, Charles; a daughter, Mrs. Gillman Ronald, Seattle; two brothers, John Rector, Grandview, Yakima County and George Rector, LaGrande, Oregon; a sister, Mrs. Emma Jensen, St. Maries, Idaho and five grandchildren.

Online biographies (The Texas State Historical Association and the San Jacinto Museum Org.) for Claiborne Rector only list two marriages: Mrs. Elizabeth Milburn in 1841 and Nancy H. Could this be another? See case below:

E. J. and A. R. Jemison vs. Caroline T. Gaston, Administratrix:
Fort Bend. Tried before Hon. J. H. Bell.
Plaintiff, E. J. Jemison, sued defendants as representatives of Hudson Gaston, deceased, for such part of (land) Fort Bend county, as she was entitled to as one of the heirs of Jesse Thompson, deceased, he having died in 1834, leaving as survivors his wife, Mary Thompson, and his children, H. M. Thompson, James M. Thompson, Jesse Thompson, Henry C. Thompson, Gracy Thompson (married C. O. Edwards,) Mary Thompson (married Claiborn Rector,) Lavinia Thompson (married George A. Ferris,) and plaintiff, only children.
H. M. Thompson administrated estate of Jesse Thompson in 1834 and the same remains open and unclosed to the present time. In 1842 administator applied to probate court to sell all the personal property belonging to said estate and so many of the negroes as would be sufficient to pay the debts. In 1843 the administrator filed another petition and asked the courts to revoke the former order of sale and grant him an order to sell the land in controversy at the residence of his intestate which was on the premises. (This was granted.)
Feb 1843, property was sold to S. W. Swenson and R. and D. G. Mills on a credit of 12 months for $6,600 it being the highest bid. Plaintiff was a minor at the time of sale and did not reach majority until 28 Sept 1850. Plaintiff reports she never received her part of the proceeds of the sale.
(It appears that E. J. Jemison lost her case because there was no law broken in how and when the property was sold.)

Last night I was watching a recorded program on Sam Houston produced by the Austin American Statesman. There was a passing reference to Elias Rector who accompanied Houston to the Texas border and turned back. Who was this Elias Rector.

The Rector name rang bells. On my mother's side I am connected to the Matlocks and Dixons of eastern TN. Also Davis. Matlocks and Dixons came to TX via AR. The Davises migrated to MO, then TX. Seems like Rector was one of the family names associated/intermarried with one of these families back in TN.

Before I start digging through my unique family filing system (a box full of collected paper), I'd like to know if anyone has anything on Elias Rector, contemporary with Sam Houston.

Wayne Earl Rector was my grandfather. Ole Lee Rector was my great grandfather, we know a little about him, including the time he left my grandpa Rector and was never seen again. I am trying to find out when great grandpa Ole Lee Rector died and the circumstances as to why he left. My mom knows a lot about the Rector and history. look forward to hearing from you

Mary Ann is living in Payne County, Oklahoma, in the 1910 census, with her niece, Julia Ann Turner Whitworth (dau of Mary Lewis Turner). She is listed as Marry A Lewis, b. 1831.
