Surnames: RE
My grandfather Luigi RE travelled and arrived at Ellis Island May 3, 1906 at the age of 16 years old from Calabria, Italy. He was a barber by trade (very common for the RE family). After his service in WWI, he moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada where he later married Pietrolina Molezzi. They had two sons, Michael Peter RE and George Bernard RE (my father). My father had his surname legally changed to REY.

All my three boys are Ray's but the grandfather tells the story that his father & Mother came from sicily & that they lived on the Danforth in Toronto, Canada. There were three brothers & two sisters. One sister was shot to death by her husband (not a Ray) & the other sister was institutionalized in Canada. The Mother & two of the brothers just suddenly died & all that remained is my children's now Grandfather. He mentioned to me that the name might have been originally Reone but I don't know if the spelling is correct. If anyone can dig up archival information at least about the shooting it might give my family a little more understanding about what transpired & from what illness the remainder of the family were infected with.
