Hi Heidi,

I did a quick look and it looks like your Peter Rausch and my Balthasar Rausch were brothers. I have lots of Rausch and Utsch information and photos. I am in the midst of preparing for my daughter's graduation but will keep in touch. It has been many years since I have received any new information. Is there anything specific that you are looking for? I am really trying to find adoption info on Tillie. I think I also have a copy of a oral history of the Rausch's coming to America. I will check.

I do not know if you are still looking for Valentine Rausch who married Barbara Vetter. I am related to her, but I found a death notice for her husband, Valentine, in the Milford Mail, 11 Jan 1940, a newspaper found online at http://interactive.ancestry.com/52399/News-IO-MI_MA.1940_01_.... He is one of seven family members (I don't know if this is siblings or includes parents) and the last one alive. His parents are Jacob and Barbara Fendrick Rausch.

Arthur and Anna were married. I would like to know about their siblings and parents.
I believe they had (at least) 2 children, Robert J (b. 1920) and Anna Mary (b.1926)
Her father, John Thompson (b. abt. 1837 in England) lived with them for about 10 years.
I have seen some census reports that show their name as Ransom, which does not help
finding info, as this mis-spelling may be due to census worker;s poor handwriting or spelling.

Robert John Rausch married Evelyn Popp and they had 4 kids, 2 girls and 2 boys, all living.

Anna Mary married Richard York.(he was born and died in Lincoln, NEBR.)

COLUMBUS: Jeanette Rausch Garton, 81, of Columbus, Ohio, died Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Willow Brook Assisted Living in Columbus following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She retired from the State of Ohio after 33 years of service.

She was a graduate of Marysville High School and attended Ascension Lutheran Church in Columbus, OH.
Her family and friends knew her for being an avid traveler, an exceptional cook, a talented bowler, a wonderful gardener and a pretty decent Scrabble player.

She loved spending time with her family and friends and was always good for a laugh.

She was born March 29, 1932 in Bexley to the late Louis E. and Frances Thiergartner Rausch and was also predeceased by her sister, Betty Lou Hughes and her son-in-law, Jeff McDonald.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria McDonald of Crestline, Ohio; a granddaughter, Kadi L. McDonald of New York, NY; a sister, Shirley Kennedy of Watertown, NY; a niece, Toni (Fred) O'Connell; three nephews, Michael (Deb) Hughes, Terry (Tatia) Kennedy and Todd (Sheila) Kennedy; five grand nieces; four grand nephews; two great grand nephews; and one great grand niece, Avery Lou Hughes.

At her family's request, there will be no funeral services.

Interment will be held at a later date at Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville, Ohio.

Donations may be made in her memory to Willow Brook Assisted Living, 55 Lazelle Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235 or to the American Cancer Society , Central Ohio Region, 5555 Frantz Road, Dublin, Ohio 43017.

Jack Delano Rausch, passed away in Scottsdale, Arizona on November 15, 2013 at the age of 80 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Born on March 18, 1933 in Dover, Ohio (Tuscarawas County) to William and Josephine Rausch, Jack was the youngest of three children.
His life was filled with music
. He received his Bachelor of Music Education (Bassoon) and Masters of Music (Theory) from The Ohio State University and performed in the famed Ohio State Marching Band (TBDBITL), served in the Air Force and performed in the 751st Air Force Band from 1953-57.

He was Principal Bassoonist of the Florida Symphony, North Carolina Symphony, Sante Fe Opera, Phoenix Symphony and others.
Jack joined the faculty of Arizona State University in 1964 and retired in 1996 as Associate Director of the School of Music and Professor Emeritus of Bassoon.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlene; son, Randall; brother, Doyle Rausch (Lois); nephew, Doyle Eric, Columbus; nephews, Bruce Archinal (Mary Ann) of Houston, Brent Archinal (JoAnne) of Flagstaff; brother-in-law, Marion Archinal, Houston; and grand nephews, Brian and Andrew Archinal.
His sister Donna Mae Archinal is deceased.

An interment service will be at 2 p.m. on December 6, 2013 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Comments may be posted at Legacy.com.

Roush, Rouch, Rough, Roughk Rouk, and Rowk.

The name Rausch is pronounced to rhyme with How or Cow, and not with Know or Toe (as the English would normally pronounce Row). The spelling of Rough would not have been pronounced Ruff. It would have rhymed with Plow, which was often rendered in those early days as Plough.

The terminal CH sound in Rausch is a soft German sound made at the back of the throat, and not the English CH sound made in the front of the mouth as in CHeese or CHeek. Since there is no English equivalent to the German CH, the clerks did the best they could with SH, CH, K or nothing at all.

My husband Craig D. Rausch, his father Donald Rausch born 1920 died 1962, his father Arthur Charles Rausch born 1880 died 1945, his father Charles Frederick Rausch born 1855 died 1934, and his father was Frederick Charles Rausch born 1819 Germany, died 1903 Jordan, MN. We don't know anything before Fred.
I am sending you pictures of these 5 men. I think Frederick and Arthur his grandson look alike. Otherwise I'm not sure if the others look like them.
I think your two pictures resemble each other alot!
Our Rausch's came from Germany, not sure where though, came to St. Louis, Missouri, then Nebraska, then Minnesota.

In case it's of interest to your research, there were death notices in Milwaukee's German language newspapers for Anne Robel Rausch, and her mother Theresa Wagner Robel (92 yrs.!).

There are about 20 Robel and 60 Rausch entries found in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).

oh my goodness...i stopped doing my genealogy shortly after i posted this. my life had gotten terribly crazy. i now am trying to pick it up again...i need to get down to the holy cross cemetary in kaukauna & see what info they have on peter rausch sr. i hope & pray its the same peter rausch you are talking about. i kept running in to dead ends with my rausch branch of my tree. also, since i posted the original post, my husband has retired from the marine corps & i am finally home instead of being over seas, which means i can now do research. well, hope to hear from you. thaanks for responding & sorry it has taken me 7 years to see this!!

I am currently looking for information on an Hans Rausch. Possible middle name, Robert. My mother was born in Germany to a Hans Rausch and Lillie Elisebeth Rausch (Crass). She was born in 1949 and was put in an orphanage where she was adopted by an American Military couple in 1951. I would really love to find information on her birth parents. My son was born with a rare genetic heart condition and we are positive it came from her. It would be wonderful to meet/talk to family as I am unsure if her parents would even still be alive. I have more information, but if you could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mary, I'm Valerie Denel Rausch (4 Aug 1970) I'm not sure if you are still researching but, my father is Fredric (Fred) Clayton Rausch (8 Oct. 1934) first son of Leland O. Rausch & Ella Hazel Rausch. My father Fred still lives in San Antonio, TX with my mother Sondra J. Rausch. By the way I have an older sister named Mary Lynn Rausch (22 Oct. 1964) she lives in Humble, TX.

CHAMPION – Catherine Marie Damon, 91, of Clearview Lantern Suites, died at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday May 1, 2013, at Windsor House of Champion.

She was born in Warren, Ohio on Feb. 11, 1922, the daughter of George and Rose (Holtsberry) Rausch, and lived in Trumbull County, Ohio most of her life.

In the 1940s, she was an inspector at Packard Electric for six years and later in life she worked for five years as a custodian for Lordstown Village.

She was a member of St. Mary Church in Mineral Ridge, Ohio, the church’s Womens Guild, 55 Plus Club, YWCA’s Good Timers Club, Lordstown Senior Citizens, and Chapter 57 of the CCC.

She is survived by two sons, William (Chris) Damon of Tallahassee, Fla. and Kenneth F. (Barbara R.) Damon of Warren, OH; daughter, Rosemary (Daniel) Fisette of Gainesville, Va.; two grandsons, Ken Damon and Andrew Damon; and two step grandchildren.

Calling hours will be today, May 3, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Church. The Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant.

Burial will be at Lordstown Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Hi there, just googled myself and saw some conversation about Peter Rausch Osburg. My name is Peter Rausch and my family lives in Osburg, Germany. My grandfather was also called Peter Rausch and his brother was Matthias Rausch.

I don't have any information about your Rausches other than the fact that Albert Kleber was married to Julie Rausch, but I do have a connection with the Klebers and a fair amount of information about them, should you want it.
