Hello from sunny California!

My great grandfather was born Michael Ratigan in either 1899 or 1900 in Glenamaddy, County Galway. Somehow the spelling of the name was changed to Ratican, and is still spelled that way today. My great grandfather came to the US quite young, and went to his sister's home in Indianapolis, Indiana where he met and married Margaret Wade and had 4 children. Eventually he and his young family made their way to Chicago, Illinois. In 1940, he became a naturalize citizen and changed his first name to Francis - nobody knows why. My grandfather relayed info that in the Glenamaddy area there were 2 Ratigan families, but they were not related that they knew of.
