I recently resumed my genealogical research, and three days ago when I was searching the census files I finally learned the maiden name of my great-great grandmother, Rose Campisi. She is the daughter of Gaetano Raso and Catherine (or Katherine, they were spelled different in the 1920 and 1930 censuses, respectively) I up until this time was unfamiliar with this last name. The entire family, including my great-great grandmother emigrated to the US in 1896 (Gaetano came over a year earlier, in 1895). It was always known they came from Sicily, and indeed the 1920 census shows him being from Palermo.

The only reason I was able to even come across this lucky information was that my great-great grandmother was widowed early and returned home to live with her parents for a while with her children.

Does anyone have any information on the Raso line from Sicily? Thanks in advance!
