Okay I'm hoping some of your Rash family experts can help me out. I'm looking for information on a Josephine Rash who married a Joseph F Steward. Josephine was born around 1898 in PA and died in 1978 in Delaware County, PA. Mother is Lilly McDonald b. 10 Mar 1874 d? and father possibly Howard T. Rash b. 10 Dec 1874 m 7 apr 1897 d?. The reason I say possibly and how I'm trying to clear up some grey area is because on the census ( I forget which one at the moment, argggg!), it only shows Lilly and daughter Josephine but Howard is not listed, but I found a marriage record in the Delaware County archives for both Lilly and Howard T Rash. Family stories say that Josephine was an "Indian Maiden" and that she was a member of the Lenni-Lenape Native American tribe, part of the Delaware Indians (named after the region) of which existed in the Elkton, MD area, birth place of Howard T. Rash. If this is true, then that would explain why Howard is not on the census records becuase he was Native American, and at the time, Census' did not always include Native Americans. It was said that Josephine's hair was straight black and looked very stereotypical Native American. Josephine also had a Sister named Edna Mae(May) b. abt 1909 who supposedly moved out West to Arizona, Oklahoma, or New Mexico I'm not quite sure. If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate it.
