In looking for James Rampton (baptised April 1815), son of Anthony Rampton (1793-1878) and Mary Ash (1796-1871) of Monk Sherborne, Hampshire, England (or at least that area)

I found a James Rampton of the right age in the "UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849" 1836: Age 20 and the crime seems to be stealing fowls. He was sentenced to 7 years and can't read the note if he died, was released or transported.

Does anyone have any experience with these types of records or perhaps have info on James Rampton? He is my 2nd great grand uncle.
