Looking to both find information on Thomas Rains and Delilah Welch as well as any descendants who have been DNA tested, would love to compare our results on gemdatch.com.

I descend from a Jesse Thomas who married a Rebecca (unknown). I believe he might be the son of a Jesse Thomas from Hall County Georgia who married Delilah Welch (after Thomas Rains had already died) since there is a marriage record in 1827 for them in Hall County Georgia. I have not found marriage record for Jesse Thomas who married Rebecca and I suspect she may be a Rains (due to DNA matching a lot of random Rains and how close those families were and in the 1820 Hall County census Delilah Rains has two daughters that are 10-15 that could fit).

Another theory is the Delilah Rains that married Jesse Thomas is actually a daughter named after her mother and the Jesse Thomas she married is the son of the elder one. Two reasons lend at least some speculation towards this, Delilah is later listed the 1860 census with her son (Elias) under the name of "Rains" again and not Thomas (so either she decided to use her previous married name or she wasn't married to Jesse Thomas). Also Elias named a daughter Delilah so it seems to be a name repeated so it seems entirely possibly Delilah named a daughter after herself... pure speculation of course.

Either way it would be interesting to compare DNA.
