Adolphus Rahter is my husband's great grandfather. I do not have a painting of Charlotte, Sr. What I have is a photo of the painting. This was sent to me from a probable cousin of yours who also descends from Charlotte Bieber.

I live in Lutherville. Have been researching the Rahters forever it seems. Charlotte and Christian are buried in the Harrisburg Cemetery along with their son Dr. Charles. My e-mail address is tchsgirl58@aol.com.

I am Lin Formwalt and decended from Charlotte Rahter and Frederick Wm. Bieber; Charlotte's parents being Charlotte and Christian. I am interested in what you have on this family. Also interested in the painting you have of Charlotte. I am in Towson MD and about an hour away from Littlestown, PA. Would love to know the family cemetery there as there are a couple of children buried there. Also, I have a piece of a family Bible with Charlotte and F. Wm's marriage and children born there. Would love to share. Will send to your e-mail if I don't hear back.

Sorry, I was unable to apply the picture (actually, a picture of a picture of Charlotte) to FindaGrave). However, it will be done when my daughter-in-law comes over. She is much more computer literate than I am.
Christian was born on 7 Dec 1805 and died 23 Sept 1888.
BTW, my husband descends from Adolphus Rahter (his great grandfather). From whom do you descend? My e-mail is tchsgirl58@aol.com. Please contact me there. I have much info on this great family.

Charlotte was born in Sept.1809 and died in Mar. 1902. This would have made her 92 at death. Actually, what I have is a picture of a painting of Charlotte. Will go to Findagrave and see what I can do to post it there. As you probably know, both she and Christian are buried in the Harrisburg cemetery.

You have a picture of Charlotte Rahter? WOW. When did she die? I know she was past 95. I just placed her and her husband Christian on Find A Grave. It would be great if you could put her picture there. Also check my info.

A.C. had an older sister Charlotte. I am thru her son William A Bieber. Also, A.C.'s mother Charlotte hangs over my fireplace!

Yes indeed, I'm still "out there". Adolphus Christian RAHTER was my husband's great grandfather. A.C. was married to Mary Elizabeth Yantis. They had a daughter Anna Louise from whom my husband descends. They also had 2 sons who died as children. Would love to exchange info.

Looking for info on Civil War veteran Benjamin J. Rahter, who served with Company I of the
87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. The regiment mustered in York in September 1861. Rahter
(b. either Aug 31, 1844 or Sept 1, 1843; d. Dec 7, 1931) was a carriage painter and salesman
from Littlestown, Adams County, Pennsylvania, but lived in Chicago for thirty years until 1914
when he returned to Gettysburg. He was the son of German-born parents Christian Charlotte
Waymines Rahter and their first child born in America. Benjamin married Henrietta Taylor who
died May 29, 1891; children: Edith R. (b. 04/05/71 - married a Hersh); remarried Nellie Lyons
in 1893 in Benton Harbor, Michigan; had a brother David (b. 1854). An Adolphus C. Rahter also
served in Company I of the 87th and was probably a relative, if not a brother.
