Have you heard from anyone on this yet? These people are a distant connection to one of my great-grandmothers, Gertrude Zimmer (her mother was Apollonia Esch), out of Rheinland-Pfalz. On another direct line we have good Rademacher info, but I have not been able to make a reliable connection between this Heinrich Rademacher who came to Westphalia in the 1840s and the two earlier immigrant Rademachers: Bernard & Franz (my great-great-grandfather) who were from Heggen in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
We also have other Pohl connections. A researcher in Germany says that these Rademachers in Rheinland-Pfalz had come down from the Lichtringhausen - Heggen area at an earlier time. I have no great faith in this, as he is relying on Johann Rademacher being a "unique" name. I have been in touch with a sixth cousin in Heggen-Finnentrop, and she says Rademacher is a common name in Germany.

Steve, thanks for the add'l input. I have checked the immigrants from Germany from 1830-1860 coming to USA through Castle Garden. There were 73 Rademachers. That info is available on the Internet. The ages and first names are given along with the ship's name and date of arrival. you should be able to access it.
The Wisconsin Historical Society (on the Internet) lists that there is an article regarding Henry G.(sic) Rademacher in the Milwaukee Sentinel of 26 April 1920 with reference "Year": 1857-1920. You may wish to check this further, the dates seem to coincide.
The WHS lists a death record in Milwaukee County for a Henry Rademacher on 31 May 1906: Ref - Reel 097, Vlume 33, Page 0466, Image 0012, Index Vol. 10, Sequence #311175.
Also, available on the Internet is the Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild. These are some of the 34 Rademacher names -
Johann (16) to Wisconsin from Bremen departure to NYC aboard Ship Magdalene, arrived 29 June 1868.
C. L. Rademacher, (39) 'gentleman' U. S. resident, aboard Steamer Washington from Bremerhaven to NYC arrived 30 August 1854. He probably was returning from a visit to Germany.
Henry (44) watchmaker, sailed from Liverpool aboard City of Washington to NYC, arrived 19 August 1858, passenger #230.
This information was copied from the passenger list of the Ship Elise, from Bremen to NYC, arriving 19 May 1836 - - -
135 John Georg Rademacher (28) male mason
136 Carol. Redemacher, his wife (28) female
137 Charles Rademacher, his child (4mo) male
138 John Henry Rademacher (34) male mason
139 Fried^k Rademacher, his wife (32) female
140 John Henry Rademacher, his child (7) male
141 F??? Chr? Rademaker, his child (4) male
142 John Charles Rademacher child (2) male

I spent considerable time on this today, so I hope you find a clue or two to assist your further research. Good luck.
Bob Niersbach

I guess I was a little confused about your original post. My great grandfather Henry John Rademacher was born in Milwaukee in 1857 and died there in 1920. His wife's name was Ottilie and she's buried with him in Milwaukee's Calvary Cemetery. They had three children - Etta Marie, Henry Stephen (my grandfather) and Romuald Theodore. I have info about the three children. I have nothing on Henry John's history other than he was a life-long resident of Milwaukee (I believe born there) and was co-owner of Horsch-Rademacher Wood and Coal Company in Milwaukee. I'm looking for information on Henry John beyond what I can find in federal census records.

Steve, are you referring to Henrietta 'Etta' GOEBEL, who in the 1920 Census was age 75, a widow, residing in Chicago's 22nd Ward with her daughter Carrie, age 44, single? This Etta immigrated from Germany in 1846 and became a citizen in 1852/1862(?). Her address was 1868 N. Halsted St., Chicago. The Census ref. is T626, R333, P3; E D 1249, Sheet 33.
The 1910 Census for Chicago listed a Henry J. GOEBEL (57) residing at 646 St. Louis Ave., in the 35th Ward, a widower, immigrated from Germany in 1868, occupation was sawyer. Census ref: T624, R283, P171; E D 1526, Sheet 9B.
Residing with him were: Henry F/H(?), age 30, single; Cora (22), Gertrude M. (17) and Florence (11), all of whom were born in Illinois.
Also, in the 1910 Census in Chicago was Henry GOEBEL (53), born in Wisconsin and his wife Caroline (51) who was born in Illinois.
Re: Henry Rademacher Wisconsin

The U S Census records contain many references to Henry Rademacher; there are 16 in the year 1900 alone, none of which appeared to be your person. However, I did locate Henry J. Rademacher in the 1920 Census in Milwaukee - T-625, Roll 2003, Page 3 & E D 211, Sheet 3B. Ward 18.
The condition of the record via the Internet is very poor. However, Henry J.(63), Ottilie (57) and son, Romuald (27) reside at 695, the street name is illegible. All were born in Wisconsin, the H & W's parents were born in Germany.

Additionally, I found the death notice of Henry S. Rademacher in the March 15, 1964 Chicago Tribune in which it's stated that he died the previous day. He was age 74 years and lived at 1700 Manchester Rd. in Wheaton, IL. He was a retired attorney and left a widow, Laura, sons Perrin G. and Richard C. and a daughter, Mrs. Joan Klem. Services were held in the chapel of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Wheaton. He was the grandfather of nine.

Can I be of additional help? Robert J. Niersbach
Hi,

My name is Stephen Rademacher. Just found your post while googling my grandfather - Henry Stephen Rademacher. Etta Goebel was Henry's sister so I think we're talking about the same person. Henry died in '64 and is buried in Wheaton, Il. I would be very interested in any information you might have on Henry's parents, Henry J and Ottilie Rademacher. I'm not familiar with the surname Niersbach.

Steve

Tony (Anton) and Anna Beste were my uncle and aunt. Are you related on the Rademacher or Beste side of the family? I have all of Anton's parents, all of his siblings, all of his aunts and uncles and his grandparents. One of Anton's aunts was also married to a Beste, Elizabeth Rademacher and Gustav Beste from Sauk Centre, MN? His grandparents were William R Rademacher and Barbara Rivers. I have not been able to find siblings for William although I know that there were two other Rademacher families in Scott county where they lived before coming to New Munich.
What kind of info do you have on these families? He married in approx, 1876-77 to Catherine Miller in Cheektowaga, Erie Co., New York. They had 7 children, 6 sons and 1 daughter.
I have finally pieced together that Pieter Rademacher was married to Barbara Rammer. Pieter and Barbara are buried in the St. George's Cemetery at Six Corners in the Town of Wilson. Most of their descendents moved to the Brown County area. I'm about to leave on vacation, but will gladly post in a few weeks what I've been able to put together if others are interested.

Hi: Your message got attached to my post and I think you might have wanted to attach to the first post in this thread -- In any case, My Frances and our cousin Frances are too young to be your Frances -- But have you seen the info on Peter Rademacher born in the Netherlands -- married Barbara Rammer and they also lived in the Wilson area. That is from ht eoriginal post. Go to the Rootsweb.com or the Ancestry.com trees and search for the trees that have Peter and Barbara and you will see the tree by the man who made the first message here and another tree of a researcher who has most of the Rademacher families included. Seems like strong possibility that your frances and Peter Rademacher married Barbara Rammer might be siblings, they are the right age and in right place. Good luck

Also on the same ship, same day was Michael Rademacher (who went to Brown County, Wisconsin and married Augusta Maria Reinhardt in 1849) with also on the ship Johann and Barbara Rademacher and two young adult daughters Sophia and another Gertrude. Barbara was in Wisconsin for the 1850 census but I can find nothing else. Thanks if you can look, Cherie Lynn

My father, Richard J. Rademacher, recently passed away in January. While my sisters and I were down in Florida with him for his final days, his wife showed us some papers and articles of the Jamaica Bay drowning incident. My fathers brother, Robert Rademacher came accross the old newspaper articles of the drowning while researching our family tree. I don't know the exact details of how he came upon the information, but he said he found the info through different venues of researching our family. He had confirmed that we are indeed related to the wine merchant and his wife, but I'm not exactly sure how. Anyway...I just happen to come accross your message through a Google search of my fathers name. I just thought it would be interesting to respond to it, see where it goes.
Respectfully,
Amy Rademacher Ciserano
