Reading your post, snail mail, yes, that is how alot of my work has been done. It was costly and slowwwwwwwww. My question is are you familiar with a Daniel Radebaugh living in Ashtabula, Ohio and married my ggreat aunt Mary E in 1834. You mention similar time frames and thought you might know a connection. they both came from Pa, via NY. Mary E later worked for a boys home in indiana after Daniel had died. Any info would be cherished.

RADEBAUGH, Jack Sheldon (OH>CA) Obit

From the Daily Press, Victorville, CA

Jack Radebaugh
Wednesday, June 23, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jack Sheldon Radebaugh was born in Findley, Ohio, on Dec. 28, 1929. He entered eternal life peacefully at home with his family at his side on June 14, 2004. Jack and Phyllis married 54 years ago soon after high school in Adrian, Mich. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Jack and Phyllis moved to California, and Jack worked for Hughes Aircraft for 32 years. Jack raised his family in Yorba Linda, where he was involved with his kids' swim teams and horse shows. They also started a rock hounding club in Orange County and had lots of great adventures with lots of great friends. As they approached retirement, they started a business -- RaJac Gems & Jewelry -- from a hobby and traveled to many gem shows, gathering more friends and memories. Jack and Phyllis chose Pinon Hills for retirement, where Jack enjoyed 15 years of community involvement. Most recently he enjoyed working with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the local disaster group to ensure a safe community. He was always ready to help. Jack has joined his parents, Dolly Mae Amsler and John Sheldon Radebaugh, as well as other friends and family members who have taken their final journey home. He is survived by his sister, Marjory Fogelsong; his loving wife, Phyllis, and their three children, Cindy Sweeney, and Jeff and Randy Radebaugh. Jack also leaves 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many friends and extended family members.
Can you give us info. on his children? And, perhaps, their descendants? We can provide those of his aunt, Nellie (WILLIAMS) ALLENBY, and even a bit of Ruth (RADEBAUGH) BLANEY's family. For Gus and Maude's children we have William, Ruth and Charley/Charles. Was there another son Samuel RADEBAUGH? Appreciate your information. Let me know if you want some of our data.

Sorry, I don't have a Charlotte RADEBAUGH. My great aunt Maud WILLIAMS married Augustus Green "Gus" RADEBAUGH in Colorado in 1898. Gus was a son of Samuel Houston RADEBAUGH and Rhoda Ellen BEAVERS, born in Ohio in 1840 and 1843, respectively. That's as far back in time or geography as I have on his family. -- M Ehteshamzadeh
Nicholas Radebach, Fairfield County, OH

Old Nick was born 1752 in Berks County, PA. By 1777 he had moved 'over the Blue Mountain' into what is now Schuylkill County. Here are some pieces of evidence:

RADEBACH, Nicholas; 1777 Capt Conrad Minnich Co; 1780 Capt Christof Baldi Co; PA Archives S3 V6 p281; Federal Pension File R8556.

Early Tax And Census Lists, Brunswick Twp., Schuylkill Co. [Then Berks Co., PA].
BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP - Feb 1778. [likely for 1777] RADEBACH,Nichl.
BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP 1780. RADEBACH, Nich'l.
BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP 1784. RADEBACH, Nicholas, 100 acres, 4 persons.

1800 census, Manheim Twp., Berks County; Nicholas Radebach, 01101//10301.

By 1810 he was gone from PA, and the 1820 census shows him in Pleasant Township with a household of 13 males and one female. George Radebaugh on the same page could be a son of Nicholas, but I have no proof of that. Nick Sr died between 1830 and 1840 in Pleasant Township; does anyone have a copy of an estate file for him? Or a death record?

Nick Jr was born about 1772. I've noticed that quite a few of these people who moved west forgot when they were born.

1793 PA Septennial Census, Manheim Twp., then Berks, now Schuylkill Co., PA. Single Freemen: Radebach, Nicholas.

I doubt if I descend from old Nick; I just thought I'd post this in case it helps someone. I descend from a Mary Radebach born 1824 probably in Schuylkill County. Don't have parents for her yet, but I'm getting closer.

If any of this rings a bell, feel free to reply or to contact me.

Re: Seeking info on Wesley Radebaugh & Francilia "Fannie" Spybey

Fannie's proper name was Frances. In the 1920 census for Fairfield County, he is Wesley, age 76. In the 1910 census, he is Sylvester, age 65. No can find in 1900. No can find a Wesley born about 1844. The 1850 census for Pleasant Twp., Fairfield County has a Sylvester, age 6, son of Jacob (age 34) and Martha (age 30). Three sons of 'Wesley' are John (abt 1880), James (abt 1885). and Paul (abt 1890). Both the 1850 and 1860 censuses say Jacob was born in Ohio. Looks like Martha was a widow by 1870. Sylvester was still at home, age 26.

In 1880, a MIL and a SIL were living with them. My guess is the name is Spyby. MIL Elizabeth was born in NJ, as were her parents. This says Fanny's father was born in England - a good combination for filtering.

Found them in 1900! It says Wesley was born June 1844 and Fannie Feb 1852. Married 22 years. Six kids, 4 living. The 4th is Anna, born Aug 1882.

From here on back, the research gets tougher; lots of misinformation out there. In the 1840 census for Pleasant township, we find John, Nicolas, and Peter Rodebaugh. The next entry is for Benjimine Raber (sic). Ben is kin to me; I know he migrated west from what is now Schuylkill County, PA. The same could be true for the Radebachs because a Nicholaus Radebach was living in the region as early as 1780. (Most of my guesses turn out to be wrong, though.) I'll keep an eye open for John and/or Nicholas as I search early Schuylkill and Berks Counties for my Radebachs.

Hi, Saw on rootsweb (I typed in Otis Radebaugh) that there is a web page titled, "Obion County, TN Branches and Twigs" . Not all families related to Gay Mathis. She states "use as a guide and not a complete fact." This shows Lalla (Laura) Belle Shelton, parents, siblings, etc. Mrs Gary L. Burns

My paternal grandmother was Rosa A Radabaugh - born 1888. Married John F Glandon in 1907 - probably in Scioto County, Ohio. Do you have Rosa (Rose) in your family tree? I have not yet found her in the census records prior to her marriage to John Glandon. Thanks.

Joel Radabaugh( was the son of John Nicholas Radabaugh (5 Feb 1777 - 13 Dec 1862) (note: in my family tree John Nicholas was noted as "the joker") and Catherine Wagner (1785 - 12 Apr 1855 )

John Nicholas Radabaugh was the son of John Nicholas Rodabaugh who was my relative.

Joel and Lydia E. Murphy (I believe) had a son Randolph Foster Radabaugh

if you can find it, the Wyckoff family tree has him listed. Its a great family tree for Radebaugh info. and all its branches. My grandfather was putting together a tree in the 30s using snail mail and phones. The Wyckoff tree and his are almost a perfect match and it ws funny that they both end about the same place on the tree.

Bruce Conley Radebaugh
