I have most of her book here in copy form, but I do not recall where he is listed. Is this in the section where the family moves into Kentucky - talks of Silas, and I think the salt mines? I am trying to remember. I have to find my notes.
I do not recall any other servants, as most of the family did very well...but, perhaps he had lost a parent, was in training for a trade. Please let me know where you found it in the book, are parents listed?, and I shall then try to find out more. Are you a Ratliff/Ratcliffe?
My grandmother was a Ratliff from Grundy, Buchanan County, VA., daughter of Alexander Rufus Ratliff.
