Sarah Elizabeth Evans Raab
Raab Sarah Elizabeth (Evans) Raab went to be with our Lord on December 12, 2013, following a lifelong struggle with a lung disease which resulted in the removal of two lobes of her right lung when she was seven years old. She was born in Columbus, Ohio but spent most of her childhood in Zanesville. The family moved back to Columbus in her senior year and she graduated from Columbus North High School in 1964. The following week, she began work at Nationwide Insurance, where she developed many friendships. In 2000, she took retirement disability from her Executive Secretary position, at her doctor's urging. She is a member of Stonybrook UMC in Gahanna and was a former member of Epworth UMC in Columbus. Sarah was preceded in death by her father Alfred Evans (1975) and her mother Willa Belle McCarley Evans Burden (1998). She is survived by her husband, John D. Raab; her children, Gregory D. Raab (Mizuho Yoshimura) and Wendy M. Raab; her grandchildren, Oliver Raab, Brooke Colbert; siblings, Alfred R. "Sonny" Evans (Vicky) and Joyce Zonakis (Nick). She is also survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Randall (Clarence), Mel Raab (Anne), Melanie Barker (Jim); many nieces, nephews, and "grandson", Tyler M. Jones. Her family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 17 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher Rd.), Gahanna and on Wednesday, December 18 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the Funeral Service at 1 p.m. at Stonybrook United Methodist Church, 485 Cherry Bottom Rd., Gahanna. Pastors Mike Bowie and Nikki Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be made in Sarah's name to Stonybrook UMC.
