Hi Ron,
I saw your postings are from 2001, but I thought I would contact you anyway.
I bought two booklets about Assateague Island. They both outline the history, wildlife, lighthouses, the life and work on the island, parceling the land, early settlers, as well as a detailed bibliography.
The book written by
Wroten has the following pictures that may be of interest: Assateague Village, the 1915 view from the lighthouse, a 1900 house in the village, late 1800's photo of schoolchildren in front of the village school, 1920 photo of Assateague Village and
Lighthouse, 1915 photo of the fish factory, Fishing camp and personnel at the site of present Ocean City Inlet, 1915 photo of boats unloading fish near the village, living quarters, kitchen and dining room at the fish factory taken 1915, Bill Scott, operator of the last general store in Assateague Village and his dog, Assateague Light Station, North
Beach Life-Saving Station in the early 1900's, and a veterinarian treating cattle on rance at Assateague in the 1920's.
I would like to connect these booklets with a family researcher. Please contact me if you have an interest in them.
