Sedgwick B. Quackenbush, 91, of Fonda, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 at his home.
Born July 26 1916 in Fultonville, the son of Sedgwick E. and Jane Fonda Quackenbush. He graduated from Fultonville High School.
Mr. Quackenbush was a self-employed Plumbing and Heating Contractor in the Fonda-Fultonville area for many years; in his later years, he worked as a tinsmith.
Sedgwick was an avid fisherman taking trips to Canada to fish.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Elizabeth Goot Quackenbush, whom he married on May 28, 1938; a daughter, Naydia E. Moore of Johnstown; 1 son, John C. Quackenbush and his wife Terry of Johnstown; his grandchildren, Sharon M. Nazzaro (Charles) of Buffalo, Paula J. Hohensheldt of Gloversville, Jacqueline E. Dunlavey (Chris) of Rensselaer, Peter R. Moore of Gloversville, Christine L. Moore (Eric) of Van Nuys, CA, Jessica L. Quackenbush of Fort Myers, FL, Jenny L. Quackenbush of Oriskany, NY.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Jenny Helen Foody of Fultonville and Charlotte Rowe Haberak of Amsterdam; 2 half brothers, Scott and Harry Smith.
A celebration of Sedgwick’s life will be held in May at a time to be announced. There will be no calling hours. Cremation will be at Parkview Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.
