My Great Grandmother Lina did have a sister by the name of Helen but I am unsure of any other names for brothers. I believe she did have a big family. Unfortunatly I know very little of her German history. Only her US history.

I am a descendent of Richard Theodore Quaas. He was my Grandfather who was born in Pegau, Saxony, Germany (Stontzsch bei Pegau near Leipsig) on 9/15/1877. He was an Electrical Engineer who traveled all over the world on projects such as the Panama Canal and eventually settled in the USA in about 1910 to marry Lilian Jackson from England and have a family (2 children). My mother is Betty Quaas (McCartin) and her sister is Frieda Quaas (Cleere)

His parents were Theodore Quaas and Ida Koch and his paternal Grandparents were Michael Quaas and Rosina Erdmuthe ( of Eastern Germany). My Grandfather believed that the Quaas' were originally from Holland and had immigrated to Germany, hence the Dutch sounding and spelling of their name - the double "aa".

He had 5 sisters, 3 which I believe immigrated to western USA (CA, OR, or WA). The three which I believe immigrated were Anna who married a Rhem (or Rehm?), Olga who married Edwin Netter, and Frieda who married a Renker. The remaining two, Ella and Liska, I believe remained in Germany and my Grandfather lost communication with them shortly after WWII when the Russians overtook Eastern Germany.

Anna Quaas Rhem/Rehm? had 4 children: William, Hans (who married Ina?), Wolfgang and Ernest Rhem.

Olga Quaas Netter had 6 children: Charlotte (who married William Fromme), Herwig, Lucia ( who married a Kaiser), Armine, Bernhard, and Ernest Netter ( who married Serena ?).

Frieda Quaas Renker had at least one child: Elfrieda Renker who married a Graul.

I have a few pictures from Germany and I can also provide my geneology chart if anyone is interested.

There seem to be some similarities but I don't think we have a match. The QUAAS members in my family were Lina QUAAS and her sister Helen QUAAS. Lina was my G Grandmother and she was from around Liepzig. She married Wilhelm REHM. They had three children that lived (rumors of many stillbirths) William, Carl and Gustav. Helen QUAAS married many times and one name was KLEINSTUEBER. I think there was an Anna QUAAS but I don't have that info. I know QUAAS is not a popular name, even in Germany so there aren't too many of them around. We have a bunch of photos from Germany with the name of a town called Lindenau printed on the back. It was the location of the proffesional photographer. I hope this helped you. Someday I will find Helen and Lina's family.

I am trying to find a Michael Quaas that would have been around the Cedar Rapids area in the 70's. Might have gone to college at either Coe or Mount Mercy. Would you possibly know him or how I could reach him? I am sorry to ask of this.

Hallo!

The only thing I know is that in Cedar Rapids are a few Quaas family. Have you tried the telephone lists? I am not related to them, just have had feedback on my research. Try also at facebook.
