Hi david. I am also a Pyzer doing research. I have gone back to Alfred Loren Pyzer who was born in England. He died in Nebraska in 1895. Do you have any other info?

Hi my name is Ben Pyzer, I am from England and live in Horsham,Coolham which is sort of near London. One of my relations has been researching the family name.It is totally English and came about because of poor spelling many years centuries ago. I have many Pyzer relations in England and some that also live in Australia.

My grandmother is a Pyzer. Actually, I am using a photo of and some military records of his from the Civil War era to teach a class, today, which made me think to run a query on his name. My grandmother's maiden name is Lila Pyzer. She is now living in California, as is her brother Lenard. She had other Pyzer siblings, but they are now deceased. The Pyzer family tree is a very interesting one, indeed.

How are you related to Alfred?

Hello Amanda,
Alfred is my great-great-grandfather. Loren is my great-grandfather. Earl is my grandfather and Lloyd is my father. They are all deceased. I met Lila and have corresponded with her many times. My family attended a family get together at one of her childrens places in Northern CA. I would LOVE to get a copy of the pictures and records that you have. My 10 year old son is very interested in his 3rd great- grandfather and the Civil War. What do you teach? I am a teacher of K, 1, & 2 in a small school in the Sierras (CA) I hope to hear from you again.

WOW! It's so amazing to "see" who you will meet on the Internet. I am currently in school getting my single-subject teaching credential and my Master's. I happened to be subbing earlier this week at the school where I wish to work full-time, teaching a history lesson on the Civil War, so I brought in a family album that Lila has made for all of her children, including my mother Charlotte (Lila's 2nd eldest child). I decided to run a query on Alfred, and I came across your posting. I made a photocopy the other day of both the photo and the civil war documents - mine are only copies, as Lila has the originals, and they turned out pretty well. I'm sure that I could get copies to you. Why don't you send me an e-mail at amandamatos@sbcglobal.net. We can correspond more in-depth through e-mail.

Great to hear from you!

Amanda

Hi I'm from Lincoln in England, I've got quite a few Pizer/Pyzer relatives in my family tree and I have to agree with Ben I believe the name came about due to poor spelling. My 3xgreat grandmother was Jane Pyzer and her father was Edward Spicer who later appeared on his marriage certificate as Pizer.

Dear David,

My name is Athalia Pyzer, Im 22 year old med student and I live in London. I can trace the name back to my great grandfather Philip Pyzer (who was 30 years old in 1911) and he had a brother called Samuel. Samuel and his parents came over from Poland during the persecution there, probably not very long before this date. I am still trying to work out the name of Philips dad, who wouldve been my dads great grandfather. There is a family legend that this guy, when he arrived here from a little village in Poland, got confused at the immigration office and gave the name Pyzer (the name of his village) as his family name.. and hence the Pyzers were born! Not sure if its true, would be interesting to find out. I wonder if our families link up anywhere? Are you Jewish? We all are. There was a Gertrude Pyzer who went to the States and had a family at some point, but she wouldnt be a Pyzer I suppose.

Looking forward to hearing from you, my email is ARP565@bham.ac.uk - which would be better,

Athalia Pyzer
