PYWELL family of Northamptonshire

Surnames: PYWELL
I am a direct descendent of William PYWELL who lived at Naseby and moved with his family (including his mother) to Great Weldon prior to his death in 1681.

I have, via another researcher, a tree of several hundred PYWELLs descended from this original family.

I would be interested in establishing contact with any other researchers who are descended from William PYWELL.

My gt grandmother was an Emma Pywell, born Weldon, her father was William Pywell, died 1867, Gt Weldon, born about 1803.
Don't know if there is any connection, but location seems helpful.

Hi there Michael,
Great stuff, yes, you have the right Emma, who is my gt grandmother. Those are the details on her parents I have too.

She married Richard Wade in 1858 and they came to NZ in 1859. Until I had it corrected in Ancestry.com(ie message about the correct done today hence me playing and finding you),there was a transcription error for this marriage whereby Pywell was recorded as Pynell.

The Wade side of things is a very long story.

I see where you fit in via some information from other people I have had contact with. When did you line go to Australia ? and to where ?

In the past I have had conversations with Peter Sherlock, who was been very helpful.

Surnames: PYWELL, BARWELL
Thomas PYWELL b. 1815 emigrated in 1854 after his wife Sarah nee BARWELL died of TB in 1852. He eventually settled near Glen Innes, NSW, but his daughter Mary Ann lived in the lower Hunter and daughter Rachel lived with her uncle George in Adelaide. His sonThomas PYWELL jnr b. around 1840 married Elizabeth HUTTON and their daughter Emily Alice PYWELL was my paternal grandmother.

I think there are still a few PYWELLs in Queensland descended from Thomas Ashley PYWELL, my g-uncle but as there were mostly daughters the name has disappeared from South Australia and NSW.

Peter Sherlock sent me the large file of PYWELL names. I can send it on to you, but be aware that most names in that file were collected by Peter and I haven't verified much of it.

Cheers

It sounds like TB was rampant in those times as according to William Pywell's b 1804 (Emma's father) death cert he died of the same.

Some time ago I made contact with the only Pywell in the NZ phone directory. Quoting "My grandfather was Archdeacon Barron Pywell from Dunedin. He was sent from Melbourne by the Anglican church to set up the Anglican church in Clyde in central Otago. His father was from England and was a school teacher and went to Australia to carry on teaching." He wasn't sure about more details but his niece on Brisbane maydo. Don't know if rings a bell for you.

I would be very interested in receiving a copy of Peter's list please.
